The only way that residents of DC have ever gained our complete voting rights without moving is through the process of retrocession. Merging with Maryland works. Excluding a 2nd Retrocession from our advocacy for complete enfranchisement is disingenuous & clearly self-defeating.
Editorial Board of the Washington Post @washingtonpost is great. I particularly enjoy reading the angry commentary to the editorials.
Keep it up you all.
Re: Maryland's dire economic outlook & downgraded bond rating, the 7th state should study merging w/ DC thru a 2nd retrocession. There was a bill last year in the House of Delegates about it (1413 was the bill #). We are going to bring it again next year. https://t.co/zMKdnXjS1d
@RepRaskin Jamie, good piece in the @guardian. RCV yes, but @OpenPrimaryUSA is even better. "Polarizing hunger game" candidates win in closed Dem & GOP primaries regularly. Go ahead push RVC, but if you want to stay away from poles open up Maryland first.

@asymmetricinfo I like your thinking in this piece but how to let folks know about it? I know, I'll put it on social media, at least it's not the doom loop scroll part of social media, so that's ok. https://t.co/nfkjWWQjTr
@FareedZakaria good piece. You give him credit when he deserves it and you scold him when he deserves it. I appreciate your point of view and how you back it up in print.

@ChuckThies & I have something in common. We write and tweet something and then soon thereafter what we have written is repeated by the Ed Board of the Post. We appreciate the sincere form of flattery. Thank you @WashPost Ed Board for your opinions. Best, https://t.co/ufeIxWebWm
@kinney4dc@trentwholbrook@CMBrookePinto@RobertWhite_DC@GregJaczko Kinney, I agree w/ your response but I’m sorry, my question was much broader and historical. I was referencing the Virginia Retrocession (1846-47) which remains the only path that has fully enfranchised Washingtonians with moving out of the District. Let’s look in the mirror DC.
@trentwholbrook@CMBrookePinto@kinney4dc@RobertWhite_DC and @GregJaczko, congrats on making the ballot. 3?s: What is the ONLY way Washingtonians have ever gained their complete voting rights without moving? Why religiously avoid that method? Is naked partisanship admirable?
@cuneytdil@michaelschaffer Despite the schizophrenic divisions, the Democrat party monopoly in DC exists. One must register as a Dem to participate in it. Over 100K DC voters don't want to Dems but they should re-register as such and vote in the primary in June and then switch back. I did. I am. I will.
@cpgrabow WP: Five officials said that Phelan, a billionaire art collector & fundraiser for Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, was forced out after repeated clashes with both Hegseth and Feinberg over his management of SHIPBUILDING and a variety of other issues.
Any thoughts?
@RepMcCormick@Douglass_County If anyone would like me to comment on @RepMcCormick and his bill on air or in print, please contact me. I promise to provide enticing quotes and provocative, but thoughtful and well supported counter points vs the congressman and his legislation.
@RepMcCormick@Douglass_County Look to merge into Maryland thru a 2nd Retrocession thereby re-enfranchising and saving billions. MD of course would improve it revenues. 9) Re: Gerrymandering, it should be attacked at every pass and that's a discussion for another thread.
