This world’s prophets care little for moral absolutes which might hamper the freedom of the individual in his or her plight for self-expression. They justify greed by parading it before their listeners under the guise of self-realization, self-fulfillment, and just deserts.
This world’s prophets are always on the side of their hearers, affirming them, brokering for them, looking out for even their most carnal and destructive interests, telling them what they need, and making it available to them at a price.
Many can quote by heart the three facts of the Gospel listed in our text – Christ died, was buried, and rose again. However, how many understand what these things mean?
It is a very dangerous thing for a minister to think that everything he preaches is the Gospel of Jesus Christ or that everything in his ministry may be correctly designated as “Gospel ministry.” The Gospel is a very specific message.
All who acknowledge their sinful, helpless estate and throw themselves upon Christ will be fully pardoned, declared righteous, and reconciled to God. This is the Gospel of God and of Jesus Christ, His Son.
