A doubleheader on opening night of college hoops on Nov. 2 at the Benchmark Arena in Tampa will feature Florida vs. Miami followed by Florida State vs. Florida A&M.

Florida A&M is coached by former Florida State two-sport star Charlie Ward. It will also be the first meeting between the two teams since The Backyard Brawl was played in 1991 (Ward played in that game).

I’m told that Florida coach Todd Golden was instrumental in putting this event together.

A news conference to officially announce the event will be held Monday in Tampa.
