This is awesome.
Staal lived it, and I'm guessing that @LukeDeCock wrote it after long conversations with Staal.
Carolina … WE DID IT!!! https://t.co/OMamLNGdrt
@backupanalyst@corylav You have to remember that they induct people as a player OR as a builder OR as an on-ice official.
We don't get to combine "Cup as player" and "Cup as coach" for the purposes of arguing that RBA was snubbed. What we're moaning about is that he's not in HHOF as a player.
@MattIlich@barstoolsports I heard that this was just for show. They had already signed the official contract in the morning and did this just for the crowd.
@WaltRuff If Brandon Bussi is in regular clothes and wearing glasses, he may as well be Steve from Accounts Payable.
Similarly, Mike Reilly is just some dude.
@TyGuy9@VioletSuzumiya@NHL No. If they aren't counting spelling variations, why did they include Pyotr Kochetkov? This is a variation of Peter, and off the top of my head, I can name two Peters on the Cup.
It was just an error leaving Slavin off this list.
Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jordan Staal finished 83-for-122 (68.0%) in the dot during the #StanleyCup Final, the highest face-off percentage ever recorded in a Final.
@BarDown Do y'all but understand that this was a gag? Likely an employee of the team store or the promotions department. Most professional sports teams have similar in-game entertainment at every game.
This is sneaky as hell. And brilliant. Having the strength coach give them some malarky about getting in touch with blue-collar roots. They were just practicing hoisting an object that weighs the same as the Stanley Cup. And the players had no idea.
Rod sneakily built in a 35 pound cinderblock lift into the Canes offseason workouts, called it “Blue Collar Presses”, and the boys never thought anything of it…
Turns out he was having them practice lifting the Cup all season long 🤯🔥

@RyanHenkel_ In 1980, Herb Brooks wasn't looking for the "best" players. He was looking for the "right" ones.
Same thing here. No passengers. Every member of this team wants to play the Carolina way. They all want to be here even when they could make more money elsewhere.
7301 days ago, I was in the building for the @Canes first Cup. I was a STM and I made some good friends that season. Mostly, two couples who were my age. Two of the four people are no longer with us & I thought of them a lot as I was in Lenovo last night for the watch party.
