@seanilling When Ted Turner died last month the college group chat discussed how much cooler business tycoons were back in the day- racing in the America's Cup, managing your pro baseball team, dating movie stars, etc.
Not really anyone like that nowadays
@henrywinter Not sure what "youth development" has to do with playing 4 centerbacks and 2 defensive midfielders, and with 10 players in the box when out of possession
@Micks2B Congrats on 1) not understanding how work permits work, and 2) understanding why Edwards wants to buy a 2nd club that can sign and play South Americans
@YazzLFC He plays a different position than Barcola
Barcola was PSG’s leading scorer in the league this season
Barcola’s underlying analytics are world class
@iainmacintosh_ It's an injury/player safety issue at the end of the day. The top clubs are playing almost 2x as many games as the mid/lower table clubs.
@FAmmiranteTFJ Only 8 countries have ever won it:
Uruguay
Argentina
Brazil
Germany
Italy
England
France
Spain
One of Brazil, Argentina, Italy, or Germany has played in 20 of the 22 finals.
@stehoare Benching star players for a season while negotiations to extend their contract is hilariously dumb. Why would a player sign a long term extension with a club that is also potentially ruining their career?
Also seems like a terrible reputation to have when recruiting new players
@OffTrack94@Jack_Moore7 Any player like that will have multiple options amongst PL clubs.
Being known as extremely difficult to negotiate a 2nd contract or to transfer away from is exactly why LFC’s top players have been running down their contracts.
@Jack_Moore7 Top players are in demand and have all the leverage.
If LFC are not willing to match RM/Barca/PSG level wages, and aren’t willing to do release clauses, then top players will continue to run down their contracts.
@TheKopWatch He absolutely is good enough.
Fans are generally terrible at evaluating players- see all the discourse about how "terrible" Konate is, now he's going to Real Madrid, who could sign pretty much any available centerbacks that they wanted to.
@Jack_Moore7 Can't force a player to move to another club.
For top players with options to sign long term contract extensions, LFC need to either revise their "no release clauses" policy, or not be so difficult in negotiating outgoing transfers.
@GagsTandon@SimonBrundish This is the result of LFC’s “no release clauses” policy.
Players won’t sign long term extensions given how difficult LFC are in negotiating outgoing transfers.
Instead top players will run down their contract and LFC will get nothing instead of a large release clause fee
