@politeracy@mkhammer That's the best feel good thing I've seen in a long time. That momma's tears at the end as she saw that others appreciated how special her boy is made me tear up!
A Memorial Day Weekend Remembrance.
Every year, Americans begin their unofficial start to summer with a holiday, the last Monday of May marked on our calendars as “Memorial Day.”
I’d like to approach this solemn day from a different perspective this year. Memorial Day isn’t about picnics, pool parties, cookouts, going to the beach, NASCAR events, horse racing or baseball and the like. All of these activities are fun don’t get me wrong. But just for a brief moment, let's just respectfully pause and offer a prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord for the ultimate sacrifice of some individuals, anonymous to most of us personally, yet their sacrifice serves as the cornerstones to the stability we all enjoy.
I may have shared this story with you previously but I think it's apropos today. A couple of years ago, we were traveling in the plush countryside of the Normandy region of France on vacation. We visited a cemetery of fallen D-Day soldiers from the UK and the Commonwealth. I randomly came upon the grave of a 16 year boy who died fighting in France. I quietly stood adjacent to his resting place with the sun just peaking over the trees on the solemn grounds. I briefly allowed myself to image for a moment what he could have looked like as I basked in the tranquil sea of silence all around me. I wondered if he ever kissed a girl or raised a beer to his chums in a smoke-filled pub. He was so young; he probably wasn’t married and probably had no children. I assume he didn’t complete any formal education and was unable to pursue a career in one of his interests. Yet, by his actions he valiantly served because he believed in putting everything on the line to preserve what is so dear to a lot of us - freedom. He placed himself in the path of tyranny and didn’t move. It cost him his life. So for all of those in the past, who served in wars and conflicts preserving freedom for others - people they never met: I simply say, THANK YOU. I humbly salute you and offer my gratitude for your ultimate sacrifice. You are a real hero.
If you are so inclined please offer the following prayer with me.
“Lord, thank you for watching over our country; preserving her for 250 years. Lord, please continue to help our nation be that beacon for those who yearn for the gifts of freedom of expression and ability to worship You - unrestricted by government or our enemies. We honor those who died protecting the our nation and way of life. Bless those they left behind and with our sincerest gratitude Lord please comfort them always through their personal loss. And finally, I ask Lord, show me ways I can honor those who died by rolling up my sleeves and working hard to preserve the greatest country in human history. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen.”
God Bless America.
Wishing you and your family, a blessed Memorial Day.
@MrsErikaKirk May the Lord continue to strengthen and comfort you. Your faithfulness, perseverance and resilience are inspiring and a testament to God's enabling power working through you. I'm just very heartbroken for all you have and continue to endure.
@staysaasy Imagine someone getting away with saying, "I'd never want a girl! I'd have to teach her not to be emotionally manipulative!" Or framing it with some other stereotype? You hear so much about toxic masculinity but the real toxicity in today's culture is the denigration of men.
NEW: Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who says he is not religious, says he broke down in tears when he saw the Cross after getting back to Earth.
Wiseman: "I'm not really a religious person, but there was just no other avenue for me to explain anything..."
Victor Glover: "The only thing I would add is I am a religious person, but everything else is the same."
1) Just because someone has money doesn't mean you or the government are entitled to it.
2) If you force investors like Bezos to liquidate investments to pay taxes, then it will cost jobs and growth.
3) I don't know who this stuff is meant to fool, but anyone with any experience with government knows that adding $200 million or even $200 billion to federal budgets won't accomplish any of those things.
We run a 2 trillion dollar annual deficit. That money would, as best, go toward paying off the interest on our debt. And if you created a new entitlement as you are suggesting, it would be so filled with fraud and waste within 2 years that it could eat up Bezos' entire fortune while barely helping anyone.COVID-19
To prove the point, Minnesota tried to offer to pay for meals for kids during Covid-19. The result was the Feeding Our Future scandal, where dozens of people conspired to steal $250 million+ from the program.
We can start talking about increasing tax revenue and adding new programs when the people who run the government can show they can effectively use the massive budgets they already have instead of wasting them. Until then, stop demanding more of other people's money.
Let me get this straight…
Chicago Bulls cut player Jaden Ivey after he spoke “hatred” towards the LGBTQ community by saying “God did not make a man to be with a man. God did not make a girl to be with a girl.”
NFL player TreVeyon Henderson who plays for the New England Patriots supported Jaden by posting a bible verse.
——Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:10
Now… Patriots Coach Mike Vrabel says that TreVeyon Hendersonnis a wonderful person, but needs to be "EDUCATED" on these issues..
The NBA and NFL hate Christianity.
Insane how many libs are criticizing “invading the privacy” of a teenager by checking her phone at night. How are there people who still think this way? If you’re not doing everything possible to protect your child from unfettered access to the internet, you’re doing a bad job as a parent. This is so obvious

How many fraudulent Hospice Centers were approved on Susan’s watch?
Time for an audit.
We have to fight now, fight here, fight today, to save Western Civilization, our Shire, from the Orcs.
Because if we don't, or if we think we can avoid the battle, we will lose our home.
Pippin: "Maybe Treebeard's right. We don't belong here, Merry. It's too big for us. What can we do in the end? We've got the Shire. Maybe we should go home."
Merry: "The fires of Isengard will spread. And the woods of Tuckburough and Buckland will burn. And all that was once green and good in this world will be gone. There won't be a Shire, Pippin."
Hello Mr. French,
Your "conservative" columns illustrate the real divide more clearly than you seem to intend. The line today is not between left and right, but between those who continue to defend institutions that have lost their coherence and those who want to return to the country's founding principles.
You have chosen the former. Again and again you use your platform to legitimize voices elevated by institutions that are now plainly failing. The result: the institutions’ confusion shows up in the arguments you advance to the rest of us.
This op-ed about James Talarico is a clear example. He has publicly defended positions that cannot be reconciled with Christian teaching: appealing to Gnostic themes to make arguments about transgenderism, or invoking the story of the Virgin Birth to frame abortion as a moral good. You know these arguments; I don’t need to repeat the clips. Yet you chose to devote New York Times space to presenting him as a serious religious voice.
That choice says more than the column itself. You are increasingly centering the institutions that reward you with fellowships, with honorariums, with dinners as your heart's idol over defense of actual Christianity.
To that end... I've asked you this question several times now. Yet you've never answered.
A while back, I was taken aback to see your name listed as a "Founding Field Builder" with New Pluralists.
For anyone unfamiliar: New Pluralists emerged after the 2016 election, when Mark Gerzon and the Mediators Foundation convened a gathering of major philanthropic players: representatives from the Soros, Koch, and Rockefeller families, as well as the Ford Foundation.
Their shared conclusion: invest enormous sums in NGOs to reshape civic and political structures from the ground up. The strategy centered on open primaries, ranked-choice voting, and other reforms aimed at changing the country’s constitutional and political trajectory. Transforming America from a Republic to an actual mob-rule democracy.
And your name appears as a founding member.
I'm asking you to address this directly, for the third time.
David French -- what is your role in this plan to change the foundations of this country just because you hate that Trump is the Constitutionally elected President?
@DavidAFrench When the New Testament warns about "wolves in sheep's clothing" (Matt 7:15), it is specifically warning us against people who are outwardly "decent", but advancing evil
"By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive" (Rom 16:18)
