Head to Head battles are back next week, with two of our developers debating the pros and cons of .NET vs Java. Both might be solid options, but if there could only be one winner, who and what would come out on top?

@evidenceSE@Headforwards I think both approaches can be helpful if you have the skills and time. Deeper analysis can highlight different and useful patterns but does require a lot more skill to conduct. I think it is a balance between effort and value that will be different for each scenario.
@evidenceSE@Headforwards You are absolutely right, average is a very crude approach, but it is very simple. Because we are using this to forecast several months into the future, it is accurate enough to make gross predictions. We are not looking for high levels of precision generally.
@evidenceSE@Headforwards Thanks for the research paper link, very interesting. In my experience, most teams use a tool like Jira, Rally or DevOps so have plenty of available historical data to analyse.
@shanselman Why are there so many? Because developers like to reinvent things maybe? And writing a compiler is a good way to show you are a #realdeveloper😉 But I have no idea how to do it #notarealdeveloper
@mahorstman I read those books the other way around. Really liked the Phoenix Project and was surprised by how similar it was to The Goal when I read that. I think there was lots of inspiration taken from the goal 😀
@thetrainline am I being stupid or have you stopped displaying the penzance-paddington sleeper service? It is not appearing in any of my searches today
