As someone with a loved one living with stage 4 cancer, I am furious after reading this. Please everyone read the article and share it - people need to be aware of the risks to them and their loved ones of this government mandated change. There’s also a link to a petition in the article which I’d encourage people to sign. 🙏

▪️Flour is an ingredient in about 30% of everything on supermarket shelves and 99.8% of British households buy bread.

▪️The WHO promotes folic acid fortification as a route to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. It also grades the evidence behind its own recommendation as of low or very low certainty.

▪️The Bread and Flour (Amendment) Regulations 2024 were introduced in November 2024. Overnight, adding folic acid to flour went from being banned to being permitted.

▪️The NHS has long advised particular groups to avoid folic acid or to take it only on medical advice: people with vitamin B12 deficiency especially if not yet diagnosed, people with cancer, those on renal dialysis and people with a coronary stent.

▪️No ethics assessment of medicating a population without consent was published. Nor was any risk-benefit assessment weighing the medical modelled gain against the side-effects.

There is a real risk of gestational diabetes for mothers & babies, who are still being advised to take SFA supplements. Stack that on top of a carb heavy diet, & going over the gov upper limit could happen: on a DAILY basis.

Nothing has changed & those risks remain, and millions of people are now at serious risk of further complications due to this soon to be new law. It's happening RIGHT NOW.

Add a drug to a hugely popular food staple, eaten by nearly the WHOLE population of the UK, who are completely UNAWARE it's happening & SOD the consequences.

The voluntary restrictions are exemption of *wholemeal, which isn't working as many producers are adding SFA anyway. (*gluten free too - reports from consumers suggest some GF lines are seeing SFA added, which is ridiculous considering it does not have flour in its ingredients)

Social housing sits on the most valuable land in Britain, allocated by need rather than proximity to work, 48% of zone 1 social housing is occupied by foreigners mostly welfare dependent - while the nurses, teachers and other workers who keep zone 1 running commute ninety minutes each way from Kent because we stopped building anything in 1979.

Every one of these is a service you have already bought. The receipt is your payslip.

The tax burden is heading for its highest sustained level since the 1940s. The service level is the worst in living memory.

You are not overtaxed or underserved. You are actually BOTH, simultaneously, and the gap between the two is where your standard of living went.

The state has become a subscription you cannot cancel and cannot use.
