“Since to date you have not provided any substantive reason or reasons for the @UniversitiesWI Board’s finding of no confidence in my #leadership, I am not prepared, as a matter of principle, to submit my #resignation,” @JayORothman wrote in the letter.

Our Whitewater local @UWWUnited is a leader in the state in its support of DEI programs, holding our higher ed leaders accountable for capitulating to political influence in cutting them. I signed in solidarity w/@aftlocal212. Will you? https://t.co/lNcdWQnpF6
Final integration belongs to eschatology. This very fact constitutes an essential part of David Tracy's legacy.

My dad turned 81 last week. This is one of the books I got him for his birthday, along with @prof_shelton’s The Education Myth. As my old friend @jonmikefred knows, Thomas Paine is the official pamphleteer of Independence Day.
Just think: 250 yrs ago, Continental Congressman Benjamin Rush sought out immigrant Thomas Paine to push him to write in favor of American independence - which led Paine to publish COMMON SENSE in January 1776 and turn a colonial rebellion into the American Revolution!
@harveyjkaye@prof_shelton@jonmikefred Funny story about my *other* friend Jon: we had a great high school social studies teacher, David Volkman, who later became district superintendent. On an exam, Jon couldn’t remember the pamphlet Paine wrote that *wasn’t* Common Sense, so he made up a title—“Arise Ye, Rebels!”
Chicago will not let a cowardly act of violence stop us from being in community together. This morning we marched in the 4th on 53rd Parade in Hyde Park as a reminder that it takes all of us to make this a safe holiday. Rain or shine, keeping people and communities safe is our top priority this 4th of July weekend.
With the murders in Minnesota, we have to stop addressing these forces as if they are not an insidious threat to American democracy. These people have set the stage for political violence. And we can’t dismiss this by saying the shooter was mentally ill or a lone wolf.
It is an extremely dark day for democracy once again.
No one should live in fear as a public servant working to ease suffering & improve lives.
My heart is breaking for our neighbors in Minnesota. Our thoughts are with Representative Hortman's family, colleagues & community.
@FrancescaHongWI Saddened and enraged that this could have been you, or Katrina, or Kristina. My AFT-W brothers and sister are all on the streets today, but let me speak for them in solidarity with you and our partners in the legislature, Francesca.
AFT secretary-treasurer @fedingram fired up the #NoKings crowd in Houston and gave a special shoutout to all the educators, cafeteria workers, and school staff in the crowd! ☮️🇺🇸
Wisconsin’s state Senate President Mary Felzkowski: “These actions will not be taken lightly, and the safety of all my colleagues, both Democrat and Republican, is of utmost importance.”
As the radical Patriot Thomas Paine wrote when calling for NO KINGS and urging Americans to separate from Britain and create a DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC: “of more worth is one honest man to society, and in the sight of God, than all the crowned ruffians that ever lived.” 🇺🇸
The politically motivated shooting and murder of beloved community members in MN is a tragedy. Political violence has no place in our society—and the depravity to carry out these acts while impersonating an officer is shocking.
Our answer isn’t more violence. It’s building communities rooted in love, justice, and the common good. That’s how we fight back and how we honor the lives taken.” #NoKingsInAmerica
