@Zietz4thGrade@NCRCisLIT I think we can never give kids enough exposure to books that foster empathy for others! Classroom read alouds are perfect for that!
@NCRCisLIT A3: I am currently doing a book study at our school called, What We Say and How We Say It by Mike Anderson. It's really eye opening about how we talk to kids and each other!
@Zietz4thGrade@NCRCisLIT When I taught 5th grade, they were always baffled when I would tell them I didn't know an answer! They assume that we as teachers are perfect and know everything. It helps make us more human to kids when they know we're learning too!
@NatashaThorlak2@NCRCisLIT I remember my elementary school teachers reading books based on holidays or what was going on in our classroom or the world! It was always so fun to go home and tell my parents about the books the teacher read at school! It helps to bring all the learning kids do full circle!
@NCRCisLIT A2: I always like to find stories that relate to what my students are going through. Finding stories about social emotional learning that are relatable can be difficult, but students love reading about other kids that are experiencing the same difficulties they are having!
@NCRCisLIT A4: Success as an educator is complicated because our success is so closely linked to our students and their successes all look different. Setting short term and long term goals with our kids is so important and helping them achieve those goals is what success means to me.
