@MagdaSzubanski Magda Szubanski spent 2020 as a very public cheerleader for one of the harshest lockdown regimes in the developed world. She became one of the most visible celebrity enforcers, not just someone trying to help out as a good citizen.

She dressed up as Sharon Strzelecki and told Victorians the lockdown wasn’t the enemy, the virus was, and that the sooner people “OBEYED THE RULES” the sooner it would all be over. She framed dissenters as Covid deniers, “CRAZY”, orchestrated, white-supremacist-adjacent, and bot farms trying to destroy democratic discourse.
“Bring it Covid Deniers, let’s see what you got. Let’s bring you right out into the sunshine.”

In August 2020 she put on the Sharon Strzelecki costume and delivered the official line for Daniel Andrews’ government:
“It’s not the lockdown that’s the enemy”

She had zero patience for people who questioned the measures that kept families apart for months, closed businesses, restricted movement to 5km, and later underpinned vaccine mandates that cost people their lives, health, freedom, jobs, their livelihoods, and in some cases contact with dying relatives.

That ad wasn’t a one-off private gesture. It was government messaging, aired and amplified across TV, social media, and news outlets. She then went on The Project, the Today Show, ABC, and into long-form interviews (Stellar/Daily Telegraph) to double down. She framed critics as “Covid deniers,” “crazy,” “orchestrated,” white-supremacist-adjacent, and bot farms trying to “rip apart discourse which is the underpinning of democracy.”
Her exact words:

“Bring it Covid Deniers, let’s see what you got. Let’s bring you right out into the sunshine. Let’s see your real names. And your real facts.”

And:

“If I can bring a lightning rod to bring out into the light the Covid-deniers then that’s great.”

Those mandates were built around a novel mRNA product rolled out under emergency authorisation, with zero long-term safety data at the time, and with clear adverse event signals that authorities minimised, ignored or dismissed outright.

Many who raised concerns were treated exactly the way Magda treated “deniers”, as threats to be exposed and shamed, refused medical attention (for any reason), to be locked up, chocked out and arrested in their PJ’s and shot with rubber bullets by police, rather than citizens with legitimate questions about risk, coercion, informed consent, bodily autonomy, freedom and our fundamental human right to self determination.

She distinguished the “scared” from the “concerted,
orchestrated” ones and spoke to the eSafety Commissioner about shutting down the latter.

She tweeted support for elimination strategies, urged Victorians not to “undo all our hard work,” and kept amplifying the compliance message well into 2021.
Across platforms, government TV ads, commercial TV (The Project, Today), public broadcaster (ABC), print (Stellar, News Corp outlets, Guardian coverage of the backlash), radio mentions, thousands of times and her own high-engagement Twitter feed.

She was a recurring face and voice of the official narrative through the peak lockdown period. Conservative estimate from the volume of contemporary coverage: hundreds of distinct media hits and amplifications in late 2020 alone, plus sustained social media activity. She was not a small player.

What she was defending was not abstract “public health.” It was a system that confined people to 5 km radius, imposed curfews, closed businesses for months, separated families (including from dying relatives), used police to enforce outdoor exercise rules, and later layered vaccine mandates

She later insisted she never told anyone to get the vaccine. But she enthusiastically backed the broader system of compliance and social pressure that made refusal costly for critical thinkers while cashing in on the damage being done to individuals, society and our economy.

Public health messaging is one thing. Treating critical thinking and scepticism of unprecedented state power and an experimental medical product as moral failure is another.

Melbourne clocked 262 days of lockdown. The economic damage, mental health toll, educational losses, and excess non-COVID harms were real and ongoing. She treated Sceptics who pointed this out, or who questioned a novel mRNA product as moral contaminants.

She later claimed she “NEVAH EVAH” was an ‘avid supporter of vaccinations’ and categorically did not insist on them for others” because “I’m not a frickin doctor.” Convenient, while choosing the mandates while not being a scientist.

She chose the vaccine herself, publicly asked about fifth boosters, and spent 2020–21 energetically defending the broader apparatus of coercion and social pressure that made refusal almost impossible. Explaining what “mandatory” means, while cheering the system that made non-compliance costly- is not neutrality. When the news of her cancer hit headlines some of the people she’d helped paint as “dangerous cranks” pointed at the product she had defended the ecosystem around. Ugly? Yes. Predictable? Also yes.
However- the culture of compliance she had amplified was often ugly and cruel. It was also the predictable result of years of moralising dissent as existential threat rather than legitimate disagreement about risk, consent, proportionality, and freedom.

Celebrities who lend their soft power and national-treasure status to unprecedented state power do not get to rewrite the record when the costs become clearer.

Magda helped normalise the idea that questioning the rules, the science-as-presented, or the trade-offs made you a denier who needed to be dragged into the sunshine. Plenty of ordinary Australians paid the price for that culture, while Magna stuffed her pockets with cash.

And then there’s the 2022 ABC series Magda’s Big National Health Check, where she spent three episodes holding a stethoscope to the nation’s physical and mental health, diagnosing chronic disease epidemics, junk-food environments, postcode determinants, and systemic failures. She presented herself as a credible national health examiner. Fast-forward to 2025, when the vaccine narrative got uncomfortable with bodies piling up, pregnant women were losing children, millions of vaccines injured, turbo cancers raging across the planet, Sudden Adult Death Syndrome rampant and suddenly:

“I’m not a frickin doctor!!”

Convenient expertise when the cash is rolling in, cameras and compliance messaging suit; sudden humility when accountability for the broader culture of medical authority and coercion comes knocking.

Arresting Magda would set the record straight and clear the path for many more coercion criminals.

I asked Professor Angus Dalgleish (Professor of Oncology at St. George's University of London and one of the world's leading cancer immunologists) whether he believed the COVID vaccine was creating turbo cancers. He said yes, and that after reviewing over 400 publications on the subject the mechanisms are so numerous it's surprising there aren't more cases than we're already seeing.

He walked me through several of them. The vaccine suppresses T-cell response and switches the antibody system into a tolerant state, essentially converting the body into a condition similar to transplant readiness, where it won't reject a foreign organ and won't reject a cancer. It can integrate into the genome next to oncogenes. The Pfizer vaccine contains SV40, a known oncogene. It interferes with dozens of metabolic and signaling pathways that, when overstimulated, drive cancer and don't switch off.

The mechanism that concerns him most is the vaccine's ability to bind and silence tumor suppressor genes like p53 and BRCA. If someone already carries a natural mutation in one of those genes, their cancer arrives 20 or 30 years earlier than it otherwise would have. Interfere with more than two or three of these pathways simultaneously and you pull it forward even further, and when the cancer does arrive, the brakes are gone.

In nearly 40 years he said he's never seen anything like the presentations he's seeing now.

He said we should ban all mRNA vaccines, because they aren't vaccines, they're gene therapies, and giving them to children can interfere with their genome for the rest of their lives. He called allowing these products to go into young people, when we knew none of them were at risk of dying, criminal medical negligence and the crime of the century.
