In my experience, 99 times out of 100, people who ask "why do you care about this thing" almost always care intensely about that thing, but in the opposite direction.
Everyone will have their take on the deal.
Mine is kinda what you'd expect.
1. Trump caved. The early-May naval attempt to break the closure of Hormuz -- Project Freedom -- could have worked. He didn't give it a chance.
2. He may nevertheless have done the right thing from an American perspective. On the larger chessboard, the one where America is curtailing Chinese lines of influence and supply on all fronts, he's gotten everything he needs. Iran's nuclear program is also set back dramatically. And worrying about gas prices come November is an extremely valid concern for an American president.
As I argued back in February, the US and Israel weren't fighting the same war. Roughly 80% of each side's war overlapped with the other's. But toward the end, their interests would diverge and America would bow out.
And so it was.
3. Israel remains in the region, Hezbollah remains ensconced in Lebanon and committed to murdering us all, Iran remains the same muqawama regime it always was, committed to mass-murder and mass-sacrifice of its own people. The decades-long war between the muqawama ideology and the Jews of Israel continues.
4. Israelis owe the United States a vast and abiding debt of gratitude for what it has done to Iran's missile and nuclear programs. That this finished on America's timetable rather than ours, that it was doing it for its own interests and not ours, these don't diminish the fact that we received from America more than we had a right to ask for.
5. And still, #3 remains true. We fight on. Because that regime is undeterrable, actually wants to destroy us all, and like the Nasserist ideology that once sent army after army at us to destroy us, will require a few more wars and perhaps another decade or two to defeat completely.
6. The new IRGC military dictatorship now in charge in Iran is built to survive catastrophe. But not to govern, reform or build anything of value.
Some commentators on the deal have suggested that the most damaging thing you could do to the Iranian regime at this point is send it back to its embittered people to try to govern the peace.
I think they might be onto something. It'd be a much safer and happier and more peaceful region if the regime falls from within and a new and better day dawns for the long-suffering people of Iran.
@mak5599_bob Yes, all of it is untrue.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris also had a bigger reach than me. Truth is not dictated by reach. What an insane thing to say.
In February, Cenk went full 9/11 truther. His own side called him out.
After the WHCD shooting in April, he implied it might be staged.
Now shots fired at the White House — "remarkable coincidence."
Three incidents. One year. Same playbook every time.
This isn't commentary. It's conspiracy mongering with a massive platform.
I am deeply concerned about what we are hearing about an Iran “deal,” being pushed by some voices in the administration.
President Trump’s decision to strike Iran was the most consequential decision of his second term. He was right to do so, and we achieved extraordinary military results—including destroying all of their missiles & drones and sinking their entire navy.
If the result of all that is to be an Iranian regime—still run by Islamists who chant “death to America”—now receiving billions of dollars, being able to enrich uranium & develop nuclear weapons, and having effective control over the Strait of Hormuz, then that outcome would be a disastrous mistake.
The details are still coming out—and I pray the early reports are wrong—but the fact that Biden’s Rob Malley is praising the deal is not encouraging.
President Trump believes in peace through strength, and his strong leadership has already made America much safer. He should continue to hold the line, defend America & enforce the red lines he has repeatedly drawn.
On May 1st, Viviana aka “Vivi” joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love. 💕
She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble.
Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy - I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good.🙏
🚨BREAKING: CNBC just admitted President Trump's latest job numbers are "TRULY INCREDIBLE."
"We're looking at levels [of jobless claims] truly that we probably haven't seen since the late 60s."
Thank you, Mr. Best President!

The President of the United States was just the target of another assassin attempt tonight…but he called me just now to check in to see how I was doing because my mom died on Wednesday.
We were there front and center.
That venue wasn’t built to accommodate an event with the line of succession for the U.S. government.
After witnessing last night, drop the TDS and build the White House ballroom for events exactly like these.
You can tell a lot about a man about how they instinctively respond when it hits the fan.

I'm waking up with a headache and stiff neck this morning due to how violently anti-ICE activist, Chris Ostroushko, shoved me down yesterday.
A second angle shows that he had to be held back by 5 men as he continued to charge at me.
I didn't speak a word to him all day yet he repeatedly called me a bitch and very clearly looks like he wanted to violently hurt me even worse than he did.
I'm happy to report that charges will be brought against this man, his wife and daughter.
No, Christianity does not promote or require socialism. And it is not at odds with capitalism.
The idea that socialism is a biblical model requires you to ignore the difference between willing generosity and forced redistribution. When the early church in Acts shared resources, it was voluntary; it wasn't mandated by the state. Peter acknowledged private property rights and so did the ten commandments. Stealing is only wrong if private property ownership is a given. Same with coveting.
All virtues require freedom, including charity. Socialism removes the freedom and kills the virtue. If the state takes your wealth and gives it to someone else, you've been taxed. You haven't been "generous" because it had nothing to do with your heart.
Capitalism creates wealth — so there's something to share — and respects our individual freedom to share it. The charity that results from the wealth that's created is real charity; it's actually an act of loving one's neighbor. And it isn't just theoretical or idealistic. Free markets paired with Christian values have produced the wealthiest, freest, and most generous societies in history.
Democrat spokesperson Hasan Piker unleashes profanities against a Vietnamese refugee who escaped communism:
"Shut the f*ck up you stupid f*cking idiotic old lady…Suck my dick."
“Hey look, Republicans won the popular vote for the first time in 20 years by running on mass deportations. I know what we’ll do: mass amnesty for illegals!”
The Bible precludes socialism in 2 of the 10 commandments: “you shall not steal” and “you shall not covet.”
The early church gave to each other voluntarily, not out of fear of the government.
2 Cor. 9:7 “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Thess 3:10 “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.”
This is basic liberal Christian slop that was interesting to debate like 10 years ago, and Tucker is hoisting it up like it’s important and novel
