I can’t believe these new Medicare trigger point coverage policies. I am shocked that a lack of published evidence explicitly showing safety from ultrasound use makes it now investigational to use ultrasound. Blind injection in to a pec minor or piriformis muscle is negligent.
@AllenBurtonMD@hjluks@JRHsnowbasin@doctdeer This rollercoaster depiction is helpful to shape expectation management/education having watched a family member just go for the ride (and do well despite ups and downs). CMS IQM PRO-PM for TKA/THA kicks off July 1. Teamwork will be the differentiator.
Oral bioavailability of ketamine is 8-20%, no way to get to anesthetic serum concentrations as seen in his autopsy with oral dosing. IV dose 1.5 weeks prior for depression not causal. Sublingual 25mg lozenge may have higher bioavailability 30-40% but far from anesthetic at 25mg
Wow! Ketamine was the cause of death- apparently orally taken. When used appropriately under medical supervision it is still an effective and safe drug for pain relief for acute and some chronic pain conditions. What says #medtwitter#pedspain? https://t.co/tS9bg5zIhC
Come join us in Vegas in mid January for the North American Neuromodulation Society annual meeting. I’m looking forward to discussing how guidelines and organizational advocacy efforts create a framework for practice and patient access.

Grateful for the partnership and leadership of the @ASALifeline exec team. It was great to connect this weekend with our CEO and future presidents, Committee on Pain Medicine members and peer pain societies at the annual meeting. Lots of work to do. Many updates forthcoming.

8/ “Embrace discomfort”
You’re only spending a year to learn a new field. Whether it’s learning new physical exam skills, reading an MRI spine, or sharpening surgical skills, embracing discomfort will help facilitate growth, motivate ideas, and make this a positive experience.
In @OR_Manager, @DMDickersonMD discussed median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) — a condition that causes mild to debilitating chronic abdominal pain that typically occurs after eating — to increase awareness of the underdiagnosed condition. https://t.co/box0u7FUQR
