SpaceX builds rockets. Rockets run on chemical propulsion. Chemical propulsion has a ceiling.

It can reach Mars. Maybe deeper into the solar system.

But interstellar travel requires physics that doesn’t exist yet.

The ceiling isn’t the universe’s. It’s ours.

Weinstein: “One of his slogans is ad astra, to the stars.”

To the stars. From a man who knows better than anyone that his rockets can’t reach them.

You don’t declare a destination your vehicle can’t reach unless you already know what replaces it.

The rockets were never the endgame.

Weinstein: “I think he’s given up on the corruption of science. He keeps talking about the fact that he doesn’t like the term researcher, he believes only in engineers.”

The breakthroughs that would get humanity past chemical propulsion should have happened decades ago.

They didn’t.

Not because the physics is impossible. Because the institutions responsible for discovering it optimized for everything except discovery.

Grant cycles. Tenure politics. Citation metrics.

The entire incentive structure of modern science rewards safe, incremental work and punishes the kind of risk that produces breakthroughs.

The system isn’t broken. It’s working exactly as designed.

It was just never designed for discovery.

Weinstein: “I think what he’s doing is he’s building Grok to do science in a time when humans are too corrupt to be truthful and real.”

Musk looked at the entire global scientific establishment and decided it was faster to build a mind that could do the physics than to fix the institutions that wouldn’t.

That calculation alone tells you everything about the state of modern science.

Everyone sees xAI competing with OpenAI and Anthropic in the chatbot race.

Weinstein is saying it was never in the chatbot race. It’s in the physics race. The one nobody else is running.

Not to assist. Not to optimize.

To understand the universe.

SpaceX is the vehicle. xAI is the destination.

One builds the ship. The other discovers how far it can go.

The distance to the stars was never measured in light years.

It was measured in the limits of the mind reaching for them.

The most ambitious project on Earth right now isn’t a rocket program.

It’s an AI being built to find the physics that makes rockets obsolete.

Musk: “It will allow SpaceX to deliver high bandwidth connectivity directly from the satellites to the phones.”

Not through towers. Not through cables. Not through any infrastructure on the ground.

Directly from orbit to the phone in your pocket.

For over a century, connectivity followed the same blueprint. Build a tower. Run a cable. Expand the network one piece of ground at a time.

Coverage went where the money was. Where the population density justified the investment.

Everywhere else got silence.

Four billion people still don’t have reliable internet.

Not because the technology doesn’t exist. Because no one could justify building a tower where they live.

Connectivity was never a technology problem. It was a geography problem disguised as one.

Musk: “The phones that are able to use the spectrum that was acquired probably start shipping in around two years.”

Two years. Then the phone in your hand connects straight to space.

No tower required. No carrier infrastructure between you and the signal.

The entire telecom industry was built on one assumption. That connectivity requires ground infrastructure.

Every carrier. Every contract. Every coverage map. All products of that assumption.

Starlink just bypassed it from orbit.

From orbit, every point on Earth is equidistant.

The word “remote” only exists because connectivity was built from the ground up.

From space, there is no remote. There is no coverage gap. There is no place on Earth harder to reach than any other.

The ground decides who gets connected based on where they are.

The sky doesn’t know the difference.

Human potential was always distributed evenly across the planet. Access to information never was.

The gap between those two facts is the greatest waste in human history.

We spent a century deciding who deserved access to information based on where they happened to be born.

Musk just made that question obsolete from 550 kilometers above the answer.

Elon Musk told you to stop saving for retirement. Every person who profits when you save rushed to tell you he’s wrong.

Musk: “Don’t worry about squirreling money away for retirement in 10 or 20 years. It won’t matter.”

The people who called this reckless have one thing in common. Their income depends on scarcity being permanent.

Their product isn’t financial planning. It’s your belief that the future will be expensive.

This isn’t theoretical. The US government just pulled a frontier AI model off the market overnight. No published threshold. No formal process. Millions of users cut off without warning.

That wasn’t safety. That was self-preservation dressed as regulation.

Musk: “If any of the things that we’ve said are true, saving for retirement will be irrelevant.”

AI and robotics collapse labor costs toward zero. Everything priced on human labor reprices with it. Housing. Healthcare. Goods. Services. The math doesn’t need your permission.

Scarcity was never a law of nature. It was a phase. And we built every major institution on the assumption it would last forever.

Banks exist because resources are scarce. Insurance exists because risk is expensive. Retirement exists because your future costs money. Remove scarcity and none of them have a product.

The establishment isn’t afraid AI will fail. They’re afraid it works. Because abundance doesn’t disrupt an industry. It dissolves the condition every institution was built to manage.

AI surpasses combined human intelligence by 2030. Humanoid robots outnumber humans after that. You can recall a model overnight. You can’t recall the physics that created it.

The question was never whether abundance arrives. It was always who loses power when it does. They just showed you the answer.
