@YEGWhisper At even $12 each (a great price) that's $1.2 million worth. Even that one item would be double what a registered TPA is allowed to raise. Hmmm...
@JonFromAlberta The answer would be constitutional authority. The Supreme Court secession ruling only grants the province the legal ability to secede so unless the new republic's constitution grants constitutional authority at the county or municipal level that would never be an issue.
@echipiuk "Unity" means compliance / status quo. The changes needed to make even thinking of unity possible - equal representation, no taxation without representation, elected senate, etc. - are EXISTENTIAL to Ottawa's survival as they now operate. That's the real conversation here.
@FreeAlbertaRob Good to hear but if healthy debate is important isn't the job of the current government and premier to present accurate facts rather than actively campaign against it so Alberta citizens can make the best decision possible?
@Martyupnorth They could be playing the same game with this which led to hiding the "tests" / "people" data in 2021. It became clear multiple tests were being given to a smaller population. This chart could be technically accurate but attempting to suggest a larger population has taken it.
@WendlingRichard@echipiuk One table of many. Line-up was 1,000 feet long. It was broken up into smaller chunks to make it more manageable - yet the canvassers were there two hours after sunset working by battery lantern to make sure every single person signed.
@Martyupnorth_2 I believe it’s a small education exercise for those unfamiliar with issues and creating an opportunity to “report back”. However, I also believe a large number of fellow citizens are blissfully under-informed so there may be a little value.
