@rphmeier What would the parachains and collators need to do in preparation for the hard-fork? What are their risks? Interesting, as this would be the 1st chain hard-fork apart from other usual singular chains' afaik.

Once asynchronous backing is deployed on Polkadot, we could consider a hard-fork to reduce the block time to 4s or even less. 6s was chosen because it's the smallest amount of time parachain backing could reasonably fit into. Async backing removes this need.
