A6: Many teachers (including myself) have not been well equipped with the knowledge of the 4 components of fact fluency. Timed tests were familiar to us. Learning about these 4 comp. makes complete sense and using timed tests now seem outlandish! #spsmathchat @DHElementary

A5: Mastery of the foundational facts helps Ss make sense of patterns and number relationships. Once these are secured Ss can more easily derive other facts using appropriate strategies. #spsmathchat @DHElementary

A4: These "Quick Fix" programs don't work because they try to go straight from phase 1 to phase 3. Ss need time to explore number relationships as well as strategies that can be used flexibly. #spsmathchat

A3: I want to put a lot of focus on Appropriate Strategy Selection. This requires higher-level thinking and is key to both efficiency and flexibility. I want my Ss to understand how & when each strategy is appropriate. #spsmathchat @DHElementary
