We updated our graphic to display the data more accurately! Fact still remains that EPPD receives the most funding. Time to reinvest in our communities and #DefundThePolice#defundeppd

Help us this week as we call on the Biden administration to phase out the immigration detention system. This can start by closing 10 facilities this year, including the Otero County Processing Center in Chaparral, NM.

I’d actually prefer an admittance from companies/orgs/etc that they don’t know how to show up in a time of incredible distress/violence/death in my community but are committed to opening their wallets to change that vs all these generic, hasty, culturally incompetent statements
🗣️ Tell the Biden admin to shut down 10 detention centers during the administration’s 1st year! https://t.co/rN774rMrxJ via @DetentionWatch
The #FirstTen facilities underscore how the immigration detention system is beyond repair.

Even more, MTC shamefully attempted to renegotiate its contract by threatening to terminate their agreement if Otero county did not guarantee the facility remains at capacity, underscoring the perverse financial incentives that exist throughout the detention system. #FirstTen
The Biden admin must #ShutDownOtero!
Throughout the pandemic, the Otero County Processing Center in NM has been one of the ICE facilities w/ the most COVID cases due to ICE & Management and Training Corporation (MTC)’s failure to adequately respond to COVID-19 & release people.
Deportations continue...the misery continues. Title 42 must be lifted. Border Patrol and ICE must be dismantled. They continue to be rogue agencies, and must end. Reform will not work @JoeBiden

Felipe Montes, 57, tragically died on January 30 while in ICE custody at the Stewart Detention Center.
His death marks the fourth time a person has died after contracting COVID-19 at the GA facility and the first death in ICE custody under the Biden administration. #FreeThemAll
