Heritage Is Auctioning Physical Bitcoin Loaded With Real Crypto

Heritage has announced Part VIII of the Otoh Collection of Physical Cryptocurrency, centered on early Casascius Bitcoins—including intact physical coins whose embedded private keys can still control real Bitcoin.

Casascius coins were created between 2011 and 2013 as physical representations of Bitcoin. Their tamper-evident holograms protect the private key, meaning an “unpeeled” coin can carry both physical collectible value and on-chain monetary value.

That makes these objects unusually important.

They combine provenance, physical custody, blockchain verification and embedded digital value inside a single asset.

For Tokenable, this may be today’s most conceptually relevant story.
