@allison_coffin 100% agree!
My work with @MITCommLab focuses largely on scientist-to-scientist communication as an opportunity to build and improve #scicomm skills - and thus move science forward!
Scientists think they're really good at communicating with their peers, but the truth is that their peers just have a higher tolerance for boredom than others.

Dr. Shirley Malcolm on "preaching to the choir" about #equity in #STEM:
There's a need for the choir to sing louder. There's a need for the choir to sing the same tune.

"The key is to lean into our humanity and what connects us"
@GildaBarabino at #AAASmtg offers a reminder very relevant to #scicomm and other situations where we might need to manage conflict
@SheevaAzma@fancycomma Agree with the above: analogies & metaphors are great for this - but can be hard to develop! When possible, workshop your analogy with both an in-field audience to check accuracy (accepting that all have limits) and an out-of-field audience to check understandability
I thought this experience would be so valuable that I flew across the country during the week in between submitting my thesis and defending it.

instead of the ever-confusing "biweekly"/"bimonthly"
or the verbose "every other week"

@FromTheLabBench I often get asked "Where do I look for scicomm job postings?"
I have some answers/thoughts, but this still doesn't seem to be a simple question to answer
The biggest favor you can do for your future self is to make a plan for writing or finishing your #thesis now. This realistic, step-by-step plan by @DMthechemist will keep you on schedule & spare you from a lot of stress! https://t.co/qjYdlLx4kE
