Zimbabwe’s formal retailers have written an open letter to Zimbabweans, stating that the fixed exchange rate system used by Mnangagwa’s corrupt government has failed, and if not addressed, they will end up with empty shelves or be forced to close shop.
The retailers, including Zimbabwe’s largest supermarket group, OK, which also owns Bon Marche, highlighted that the lack of access to foreign exchange in banks, combined with government demands for them to use the fixed exchange rate while their suppliers use the parallel or black market rate, is driving them towards closure.
