🚨🔵 BREAKING: Chelsea and Manchester City are now locked in talks over Enzo Maresca… just months after his exit from Stamford Bridge.
It has emerged that Chelsea and Manchester City are currently in negotiations regarding compensation for Enzo Maresca, who is set to become Pep Guardiola’s successor at the Etihad.
Maresca only left Chelsea earlier this year after 18 months in charge, resigning on New Year’s Day with three and a half years still remaining on his contract.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, the Italian delivered one of the more successful spells of the BlueCo era — winning the Conference League and the Club World Cup, while also guiding Chelsea back into European contention before his sudden exit.
However, his departure was far from quiet.
Reports suggest Maresca had growing frustrations with the club’s internal structure, including the decision-making hierarchy and issues within the medical department, which eventually led to his resignation.
Now, just months later, he is expected to take over at Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola’s reported blessing.
According to The Mail, Chelsea and City are now locked in talks over a compensation fee, with Chelsea believing they are entitled to payment due to Maresca resigning while still under contract.
From Chelsea’s perspective, his exit not only disrupted continuity but also played a role in the club’s disappointing drop to 10th place, making this compensation battle even more significant behind the scenes.
City are yet to officially announce Maresca’s arrival, but discussions are already ongoing between both clubs as they look to settle financial terms.
If agreed, the fee could soften Chelsea’s financial losses from his departure and reduce the impact of his early exit.

Do you think Chelsea should demand full compensation for Maresca’s exit, or just move on and focus on Xabi Alonso’s era? 👇
