MasterClass in Pathology 2021. End of Day 1. Spectacular talks by Dr. Rapini, Dr. Carneiro, Dr. Irhler, Dr. Agaimy, Dr. Wardelmann and Dr. Gardner. Cannot thank all the faculty enough to make this once in a life time learning experience.
Any feedback/suggestions for improvement?
Super rare ovarian tumor. A big thank you to one of my favorite pathologists (Dr. Qiang Xie) for sharing this case. Positive: beta-cat (nuclear), BCL1 (diffuse), CD10, WT1. Negative: calretinin, inhibin. If you know the diagnosis, take a stab at it in the comments! #GynPath

Great reminder that desmin is a very important part of round blue & spindle cell tumor IHC panel! I almost misdiagnosed an alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (in skin of elderly!) as Merkel cell carcinoma because CK & synapto +. Desmin saved me! Case report by @MikiLindseyMD coming soon.
The term mucoepidermoid makes it seem like there will be a mucoid and an epidermoid (squamous) component in the tumor. Wrong!
PGY1s beware! Here is a picture that attempts to explain what really happens in mucoepidermoid carcinoma. In this pic tumor = top left
