@c2r4u2s4t1y2 Sorry I didn’t calibrate my communication for maximum obtuseness and minimal comprehension. I should have remembered I was dealing with a conservative. In the absence of spending cuts, which neither party has achieved, it is more fiscally irresponsible to also cut taxes.
@c2r4u2s4t1y2 Yes, it’s called a hypothetical, those of us with access to higher level thinking use them from time to time to simplify communication. If you want to get into who has actually presided over greater increases in spending, you won’t like that answer either.
@GoViRaLFG@BBKogan If one party keeps spending level and raises taxes, and the other keeps spending level and cuts taxes, which is the more fiscally responsible?
@nwoguuu @NadavIsHere That was an answer to the second point. He’s worth that because it’s the going rate for one of the best forwards in Germany, which he has been. But it’s definitely not the same overall track record as the others you mentioned, don’t disagree
@nwoguuu @NadavIsHere Won the most duels in the Bundesliga by far, 4th highest sprint speed, 6th in total sprints, 8th in goals scored, regularly double marked.
@TripleTrio96 @DeepSpace_Four Yes lol. I struggle to see how you get to a yes unless you lived in NY at the time, or knew someone in the event or subsequent wars. I guess you could do some bank shot “PATRIOT act affects us all” argument, but I don’t think that’s what this poll is capturing.
@DeepSpace_Four Probably not, it precipitated a much more significant war and also came at a time when there was still a shared baseline reality. Just saying 42% strikes me as a pretty high number when the “correct” answer is almost certainly much lower
@InhaledThePoint No worries. I very much hope for a vigorous primary season and a Tea Party moment for the left. Absolutely our best chance of getting out of this. The party is in disarray and there for the taking.
@InhaledThePoint@hutchinson Yes, that’s exactly what the original post said, that I’m agreeing with. Prosecute your disagreements in primary season. Not sure where the condescending tone is coming from.
@InhaledThePoint@hutchinson Being a reliable party line voter actually is leverage. Look at the influence black voters have on the primary process. Or how the entire Republican apparatus has bent to the will of its most vehement supporters.
@mr_sanford_lyl Sure. And they likely are efficient with their time in other contexts, or have otherwise found ways to work around or through their limitations, to complete years of education. But if they can’t, society isn’t exactly going to break under the weight of another unused law degree.
@mr_sanford_lyl Because to me that is quite literally working harder to get the same results. Which would also be reflected in their grades, clerkships, etc. all of which contribute to their hiring prospects.
@mr_sanford_lyl If a disabled person has to attend all kinds of medical appointments, make separate arrangements with their school, testing companies, etc., and then commit several more hours of time and mental focus to the same test to get the same result, how would you characterize that?
@BKJester This person (hypothetical, but also real people I have met as a proctor) could easily wear noise canceling headphones while doing their work in any other situation. How does the test better reflect their ability if you force them into adverse conditions?
@BKJester Ability to do what? If we’re talking about the exams in a law school class, isn’t it to read, understand, retain, and engage with the material you’ve been studying? How do you know an autistic person who’s, say, distracted by a ticking clock hasn’t actually done that better?
@BKJester Time-constrained, absolutely. I’m talking about a literal 3-hour window. Mostly I know people working on timetables of days, or weeks. I absolutely agree they should avoid fields that would require that of them (assuming the accommodation is not test-specific)
@BKJester Why would someone who isn’t autistic need to test separately in a quiet room? Why would someone who isn’t nursing a newborn need breastfeeding breaks? Why should we make the entire system drastically more wasteful to flatter your sense of fairness?
