Jesus was not a Christian.
If anything, He was a Jew.

He Himself made that clear when He said to the Samaritan woman:

“You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.”
- John 4:22 (NKJV)

Even His Hebrew name declares who He is. Yeshua (יֵשׁוּעַ) means “salvation.” Indeed, salvation is of the Jews.

He came into the world as a Jew, lived as a Jew, died as a Jew, rose again as a Jew, and will return as the Jewish Messiah. That is why Scripture calls Him:

“Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed…”
- Revelation 5:5 (NKJV)

A Christian is a follower of the Messiah. You cannot be a follower of the Messiah if you are the Messiah. He is the Messiah whom all people are called to follow, regardless of their ethnicity, nationality, or religious background.

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Finally. The official government of Israel stood on the world stage, at the morally bankrupt, tyrant-embracing, terror-tolerating United Nations, and declared the simple truth: the Jewish people are the indigenous people of the Land of Israel.

The Jewish people are called Jews because we originate from Judea (falsely called the ‘West Bank’ of the Jordan River!).

Arabs are called Arabs because they originate from Arabia!

Jews have continuously lived in Israel for over 3,500 years, despite many being exiled.

Arabs only first came in the 7th century, as part of the brutal Arab Muslim conquest of the Middle East. They are the outsiders, the occupiers. Persecuting non-Muslims today as they persecuted non-Muslims for 1,400+ years.

Finally, the State of Israel is proclaiming the one and only truth about the one and only indigenous people to the land of Israel!

FEAR GOD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS

Solomon starts his book with the sobering words, “Futile! Futile!... Absolutely futile! Everything is futile” (Ecclesiastes 1:2), and he concludes with one of the clearest, most hope-filled messages in all of Scripture:

“Having heard everything, I have reached this conclusion: Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.”
— Ecclesiastes 12:13

This verse reminds us of what truly matters most when everything else is weighed and found lacking.

Here are three quick insights from Ecclesiastes — three key points for a meaningful, God-focused life.

1. LIFE WITHOUT GOD IS EMPTY — BUT LIFE WITH GOD IS ANCHORED

Ecclesiastes reveals what the world doesn’t want to admit: you can have everything and still feel empty inside. Solomon had wealth, power, accomplishments, and pleasure. Yet he repeatedly came to the same conclusion:

“Futile! Futile!... Absolutely futile! Everything is futile.”
— Ecclesiastes 1:2

In my view, this isn’t the language of despair; it is the language of awakening. Solomon is shaking us by the shoulders, urging us not to chase what cannot satisfy. The blessing is this: once we stop put all our hopes in temporary things, we are finally prepared to find our peace in God alone and cling to eternal things.

“Now this is eternal life — that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you sent.”
— John 17:3

2. FEAR OF GOD IS NOT TERROR — IT IS REVERENT AWE AND WHOLEHEARTED SURRENDER

When Solomon says, “Fear God,” he is not referring to the negative emotion of fear or terror. He means honor God, reverence Him, look at Him in awe, and take Him seriously in everything. This is the beginning of wisdom and stability in your life.

Fear of God brings peace because it restores proper order: God is God, and we are not. And that’s a relief!

“The beginning of wisdom is to fear the LORD.”
— Proverbs 9:10

3. OBEDIENCE IS NOT BONDAGE — IT IS THE PATH OF BLESSING AND FREEDOM

Modern culture often views commandments as oppressive. Scripture shows them as protective. God’s commands are like guardrails on a mountain road — they don’t ruin the drive; they keep you from falling off the cliff.

When Solomon says to “keep His commandments” (Ecclesiastes 12:13), he understands that obedience is an expression of love for God. In fact, obedience is love put into action.

Jesus said it plainly:

“If you love me, you will obey my commandments.”
— John 14:15

A PRAYER

Father, thank You for speaking truth into a world filled with noise and emptiness.

Teach me to fear You with reverent awe — not as a slave, but as Your child.

Help me to keep Your commandments with joy and faith, knowing that obedience to You is an expression of my love for You.

When I’m tempted to chase what cannot satisfy, gently turn my heart back to what is eternal.

Make my life meaningful by centering it on You.

And may my days reflect Your wisdom, Your holiness, and Your love.

Pharaoh does not recognize the language spoken, the religion practiced, and the culture in place.

Then Caesar travels 2000 years forward and lands in Rome. Once again, he does not recognize the language, understand the religion, and grasp much of the culture.

Then King David of Jerusalem travels 3,000 years forward and lands in the Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv.

He asks someone in Hebrew if the restaurants are kosher, and the person answers in the same language King David speaks that indeed they are.King David then asks how to travel to Jerusalem, his eternal capital.and the answer comes back to him in Hebrew right away.

King David then sees his book of Psalms in the same language he wrote it, in the bookshelf of every home and business that he sees.

The Jewish people are indigenous to the land of Israel in ways that other nations can only dream of.

Let’s spend this morning studying the Bible together 📖

Long before the New Testament dropped.
Long before Jesus was born.

In Proverbs 30, a wise man named Agur shows up, and instead of acting like he knows everything, he does the opposite. He openly admits his limits and starts asking questions that basically say, “Yeah… humans don’t actually know much unless God reveals it.”

First question:

Who has ascended into heaven or descended?

Who has authority over heaven and earth? Because last time we checked, no human being moves freely between God’s realm and ours. In Scripture, ascending and descending are strictly God-only activities. No shortcuts, no ladders, no exceptions.

Then Agur keeps going:

Who has gathered the wind in his fists?

The wind, invisible, uncontrollable, impossible to grab. Yet Agur describes it like God is holding it casually in His hands. Message clear: God controls even what humans can’t see or manage.

Next question:

Who has bound the waters in a garment?

In the Bible, water often represents chaos and disorder. Agur is saying, who wrapped chaos up and told it, “Don’t cross this line”? Only God sets boundaries for the seas and tells disorder where to stop.

Then another one:

Who has established all the ends of the earth?

In other words, who laid the foundations of the world? Creation itself testifies that there is one Creator, not a committee, not an accident, but a single intentional God.

By now, the answer is obvious.
Every question points to the same conclusion:

God alone.❗️

But then Agur drops the real bombshell:

What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if you know?

Wait… His Son? 😳

This is where the verse goes from interesting to wild.

In the ancient world, knowing someone’s name meant knowing their nature, authority, and identity. Agur is basically saying, “If you really think you know the One who controls heaven, earth, wind, and seas, then tell me His name… and while you’re at it, tell me His Son’s name too.”

And here’s why that’s shocking:
Proverbs was written centuries before Christ.
Israel was fiercely monotheistic.
Yet here we are, in wisdom literature, casually talking about God and His Son.

Fast forward hundreds of years, cue the New Testament.

Jesus steps in and says:

“No one has ascended into heaven except He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.” (John 3:13)

Mic drop 🎤

Then John adds:

“No one has ever seen God; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has made Him known.” (John 1:18)

And just like that, the mystery Agur raised nearly a thousand years earlier gets answered.

Proverbs 30:4 finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ:
the Son who descended,
the Son who reveals the Father,
the Son whose name Agur hinted at long before anyone knew how the story would unfold.

Turns out, God wasn’t improvising. He was foreshadowing the whole time 😌✝️

LET’S DISMANTLE ISLAM WITH ONE QUESTION
Just ask this question to any proud Muslim in your circle.

PLEASE SHOW ME ONE NEW IDEA, PRACTICE, PIECE OF KNOWLEDGE, PHILOSOPHICAL OR SPIRITUAL INSIGHT, DOGMA, PRACTICE, BENEVOLENCE OR ATROCITY, WHICH MUHAMMAD GAVE TO HIS BELIEVERS IN HIS LIFETIME OR IS CONTAINED IN HIS BOOK QURAN.
The short answer is None.

There is no single original idea, doctrine, ethical principle, spiritual insight, or metaphysical discovery that can be demonstrated by historical, textual, or comparative analysis to have originated with Muhammad or to be novelly introduced by the Quran.
Then why should I be a Muslim? They shall have no (reasonable) answer to that, except some mambo- jumbo nonsense.

Below is a reasoned breakdown, item by item.
1. MONOTHEISM?
Not new.
- Already fully developed in Judaism (Yahweh)
- Re-asserted in Christianity
- Present in Zoroastrianism (Ahura Mazda)
- Known among Arab Hanifs before Muhammad
The Quran does not discover one God It asserted ownership over an already ancient idea and made his tribal God “Allah” as the supreme God out of many in the pagan Arabia.

2. MORAL COMMANDS?
Not new.
- “Do not steal” was Mosaic Law
- “Do not kill” was Universal tribal law
- Charity (zakat) already existed as Jewish tzedakah, Christian almsgiving
- Fasting was a common practice among Jews, Christians, ascetics, pagans
Nothing ethically novel appears; only repetition plus added threat and fear.

3. PRAYERS & RITUALS?
Not new.
- Prostration was in Assyrian, Persian, Judaic traditions
- Fixed prayer times already in Zoroastrian & monastic practice
- Pilgrimage was part of Pre-Islamic Meccan paganism
- Kaaba was a Pagan shrine before Islam
Islam appropriated, did not invent.

4. LAW (SHARIA)?
Not new, nor sophisticated.
- Tribal Arab custom
- Biblical legalism
- Near-Eastern patriarchal norms
And crucially Sharia added nothing universal, only codified power, with harsher enforcement.

5. SPIRITUAL OR PHILOSOPHICAL INSIGHT?
None.
Compare honestly with:
- Plato (Forms, Ethics, Reason)
- Aristotle (Logic, Virtue)
- Buddha (Suffering, Mind)
- Upanishads (Self, Brahman)
The Quran offers no theory of mind, no metaphysics, no epistemology, no ethics of doubt, no self-inquiry.
It replaces philosophy with obedience.

6. SCIENCE OR COSMOLOGY?
Not new and often wrong.
- Flat-earth imagery
- Sky as a solid roof
- Stars as missiles against devils
- Embryology copied from Galen (2nd century)
- Sun sets in a lake at night.
Nothing discovered. Much misunderstood.

7. SOCIAL REFORM?
Selective and regressive.
- Slavery: endorsed, not abolished
- Polygamy: expanded, not restricted
- Women: inheritance reduced, testimony halved
- Apostasy: death penalty introduced
If anything, Islam froze Arabian society into scripture.

8. ATROCITIES? (YES — THIS IS WHERE ISLAM IS NOVEL)
Here lies the only genuine innovation:
Sanctifying violence as divine command.
While violence existed before, Islam uniquely:
- Made war a religious duty
- Turned conquest into salvation
- Justified assassination of critics
- Normalised collective punishment
- Promised sexual reward for killing
This fusion of:
tribal violence + absolute divine certainty
is Islam’s true historical novelty.

FINAL VERDICT
Muhammad did not:
- discover God
- invent morality
- advance philosophy
- deepen spirituality
- expand human knowledge

What he did was:
- centralise authority
- eliminate doubt
- weaponise belief
- bind obedience to eternal threat

Islam is not a revelation.
It is appropriation plus absolutism.

Muslims, here’s the simple truth: we don’t really care what the Quran says about Isa. We don’t believe the Quran is the Word of God, and we’re definitely not buying its version of Jesus.

We can’t accept a book that showed up 600 years later, written by a man with no eyewitnesses, just pure “trust me bro” energy…No, we’re not taking that over the testimony of Jesus’ own disciples. 😅

Do you know why Jesus chose the twelve disciples? They weren’t just students, they were witnesses. If Jesus had come with no disciples, that would’ve been a serious problem. But He didn’t come alone, He had twelve. Not one, not two. And even after Judas, the remaining eleven lived on and testified. They heard His teachings, saw His miracles, walked with Him, saw Him arrested, and knew exactly what happened. This wasn’t some secret event that happened in a corner. Jesus was well known. He healed the sick, crowds followed Him, so He was quite popular, and when He was crucified, it became public news. Even those who ran in fear couldn’t escape hearing about it.

John, the disciple Jesus loved, was present at the crucifixion. Mary, His mother, was there. Many others were there too. So you expect us to ignore all these eyewitness accounts and instead believe a man who never met Jesus, never met His disciples, never interviewed them, and wasn’t present for any of it? Sorry, we’re not that gullible.

The Bible already warned us that people like this would come. So no offense, but we’re sticking with what’s written in the Bible, not what the Quran says about Isa.

The first Christian was a felon.

Not Peter.
Not Paul.

A criminal. Hanging on a cross. Hours from death.

He beat everyone to paradise.

Think about that.

Before the disciples figured out the resurrection.
Before Paul got knocked off his horse.
Before the first church was planted.
Before a single creed was written.

A thief looked at Jesus and said, “Remember me.”

And Jesus said, “Today.”

The first Christian had no church.
No baptism.
No small group.
No Bible study.
No accountability partner.
No 6-week membership class.

He had nails in his wrists and six hours to live.

The first Christian never tithed.
Never served on the worship team.
Never read a single epistle.
Never debated Calvinism vs Arminianism.
Never posted a Bible verse on his timeline.

The first Christian was a convicted criminal who couldn’t lift his hands to pray.

And he’s been in paradise for 2,000 years.

Meanwhile.

You’ve been in church for 20 years.
You’ve read the Bible cover to cover.
You’ve got the theology down cold.
You’ve memorized the Roman Road.
You can articulate penal substitutionary atonement.

And you’re still wondering if that guy who prayed last week really “got it.”

The first Christian didn’t “get it.”

He got HIM.

That’s the difference.

He didn’t understand substitution.
He didn’t understand imputation.
He didn’t understand justification by faith alone.

He understood one thing:

The man next to him was a King.

And he wanted in.

“Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.”

That’s it.

That’s the whole conversion.

No altar call.
No counseling room.
No follow-up email.

Just a criminal, a King, and a request.

And here’s the part that should wreck you:

His theology was WRONG.

“When you come into your kingdom.”

He thought Jesus was about to take an earthly throne.
He didn’t understand the resurrection.
He didn’t understand the ascension.
He didn’t understand the second coming.

He got the timeline completely wrong.

And Jesus saved him anyway.

He didn’t correct his eschatology.
Didn’t hand him a doctrinal statement.
Didn’t say, “Well actually…”

He just said, “Today.”

The first Christian had bad theology and a good King.

Some of you have great theology and no King at all.

You know every doctrine.
You can defend every position.
You’ve won every argument.

And you’ve never once said “remember me” like you meant it.

The first Christian wasn’t impressive.

He was desperate.

And desperation got him further than your diploma.

2,000 years of church history.

Councils. Creeds. Confessions.
Seminaries. Denominations. Debates.

And the first one through the door was a dying criminal who couldn’t even fold his hands.

Makes you wonder if we’ve overcomplicated this.

The first Christian didn’t have a platform.
Didn’t have a following.
Didn’t have a ministry.
Didn’t have a book deal.
Didn’t have a podcast.

He had a cross and a question.

And that was enough.

You scrolling through X right now with your Reformed credentials and your theological hot takes…

The guy who beat you to paradise couldn’t read.

He didn’t know the five solas.
He didn’t know the five points.
He didn’t know the four spiritual laws.

He knew one thing:

He was dying.
And so was Jesus.
And Jesus was still a King.

That’s faith.

Not a system. A surrender.
Not knowledge. Recognition.
Not performance. Desperation.

The first Christian.

A felon.
A failure.
A man with hours to live and nothing to offer.

And he’s been home longer than anyone.
