We have seen an uptick in reports of youth discharging fireworks over the last two weeks. Reports have primarily come from the Lynn Valley and Delbrook neighbourhoods. With the dry weather and elevated risk of fires, setting off fireworks is extremely dangerous. It is also illegal. Please do your part to help protect our neighbourhoods, parks, and community during this period of elevated fire risk.
HAPPENING NOW: Police are on scene at W 1st Street and MacKay Avenue investigating a serious motor vehicle incident involving a cyclist. Road closures are in effect, and the public is asked to avoid the area. There is no estimated time for the roads to reopen.
Prevent battery fires:
❌ Don’t bend, crush, or drop devices
🌡️ Keep at room temp
🚫 Avoid heat and moisture If a battery overheats, leaks, or swells, stop using it and move it away from flammables (if safe).
