When Jeanne Calment was born, in 1875, the life expectancy for a French woman was 45. In 1991, Calment became the oldest person in the world. But two researchers don’t believe her story. https://t.co/4fMjjCdAko

Visiting the Faculté de Médecine de Paris yesterday, I was struck by Jules Adler’s 1892 painting “Transfusion de sang de chèvre.” The scene, portraying medical scientists pushing the then boundaries of science in an attempt to save a young woman’s life, filled me with both discomfort and hope. Discomfort because we now know this technique was doomed to fail; hope because it symbolizes the relentless human pursuit to help others, the same drive that still continues to drive medical advancement. Standing in that centuries old stairway, I felt a deep appreciation for the courage and determination of those medical pioneers whose successes - and unfortunately, often failures - paved the way for our breakthroughs today.

Snoop is the biggest winner of Paris Olympics.
NBC is paying him $500k a day (~$9m total) to do hilarious riffs on sports he’s never seen and — prob worth more than the salary — he got a private tour of an empty Louvre.
Just in case you were curious, it’s not an easy task to complete a spreadsheet only using your eyes. 👀 Nonetheless, I am so very grateful for technology that allows my eyes to help me maintain some independence. 💪 #ALS#EyeGazeTechnology#FightLikeAGirl#ICanDoIt
