Join me today at 2PM for the #ATS2023 Pediatric Year In Review where I’ll discuss the latest research on the long-term impact of #peds respiratory viral infections. Summary: Respiratory viruses 🦠 are bad and have long-lasting effects on lung health 🫁! 😱 @ATSPeds#pedspulm
Very exciting to see modulators for #CysticFibrosis continuing to be approved down to lower ages! Now children can be started on Orkambi as young as 12 months! Next up, Trikafta down to age 2 soon (please??)...? #PedsPulm 🫁 #CureCF@NortonChildrens
@olsonplanner 2 observations 1) culture can be very hierarchical and territorial esp for new learners (this stems from “good” place of trying to enforce protocols/ safety I think) 2) cases can go from routine to life threatening very quickly (can b pro or con depending on personality)
Here’s what I’m wondering: kid is on last day of discharge doing well on q4 albuterol but definitely needs that q4.
Do I say:
1) symbicort 1-2puff q4h for 48 Hr at home, then symbicort daily+ prn?
2) albuterol 2 puff q4h prn x48 hrs—> Symbicort daily and prn?
3) SMART in 🏥?
One approach we love at @ctchildrens is to use clinical pathways as spearheaded by @ilana_phm

Do pathways work to improve things? Yep! Ask @sunithakaiser 👩🔬

@olsonplanner One thing for trainees since Covid: noon lectures used to be protected time where residents could learn and all get free lunch. Now w/ many hospital mask/eating policies, it is: listen to lecture hungry, then grab the bagged lunch and good luck finding a place to eat.
@olsonplanner @SMacMillanMD Haha ask a physician to hum you different hold music. I know about 4 different tunes at least. From smooth jazz to tinkling piano. Also if I ran into the cvs phone tree man I’d probably recognize him based on voice alone.
