Perhaps the current focus on the vulnerability of our emergency care system could provide the final wake-up call needed to focus on it once we’ve got through this crisis. We were already in trouble, with no road map out, and ignored in the budget. Time to reconsider priorities?
@RishiSunak@thetimes If it was that easy, why didn't you resolve the pay disputes in office?
It seems this is another example of you saying 'do as I say, not as I do' by oversimplifying the solutions and just general revisionism.
Hindsight really is 20/20!
@RishiSunak@thetimes You do know you were the last PM and your party were governing for the previous 14 years 🙄
Any suggestions why you didn't sort out the problems then, instead of making it worse......
@RishiSunak@thetimes Why is there no money to train, employ & pay doctors?
But there is unlimited money to train, employ & pay NON-DOCTORS to try & replace actual doctors
Non-doctors do not have the knowledge, qualifications, training, or experience to replace doctors
It's unregulated & it's unsafe
@IsabelOakeshott@guardian@Nigel_Farage Haha.
You lot are proper rattled by it
Farage has just issued a so-called “categorical”denial
“I did not say (those things) aged 13”
He did not comment on whether he had said them aged 14, however
Why is he always so slippery. Deny it properly and straightforwardly
Sir Keir Starmer tells Sky’s @BethRigby that Labour "kept to its manifesto" promises despite raising taxes in the budget - as he asked "everybody to contribute"
Students confronted @TiceRichard over the Nathan Gill Russia bribery scandal.
Will asked, “Persuade me it’s not worrying you didn’t spot a Russian bribe-taker in your own ranks.”
“And top of that is the fact, the fact you blatantly lied to the Times Magazine in March, saying you'd never met him, when I have various photos of you here- Nathan Gill lied to you.”
Tice tried to wriggle out of it and they called him a liar. The whole hall erupted in applause 👏
The Reform ‘straight-talking’ myth just died on stage.
Number of patients in England waiting more than 12 hours in ED last year > 1.7 million. Number of associated deaths estimated > 16000. Number of sentences in budget mentioning emergency care = 0. Just leaving it there. https://t.co/Xv8X7qUxqZ
Resident doctors work 70 hours a week in life-or-death conditions, strict rotas, and GMC accountability. MPs earn £93,904 with no contracted hours, no mandatory attendance, less personal risk. The people who keep the NHS running are valued far less than those who merely debate it
☢️ Dear nurses, physios, paramedics, and other non-doctors,
I believe you have a professional and moral duty toward your doctor colleagues, and you should boycott advanced practice (ACP) vacancies created by this SATANIC government.
⭕️ Did you know that more than 150 doctors applied for round 2 recruitment in Dermatology, with only 10 jobs available?
⭕️ I recently saw 4 senior ACP jobs created, that’s 40% of the total training jobs available for doctors.
⭕️ The fierce competition ratios and shortage of doctor jobs are all controlled by the government, which wants to:
➖Cheapen the medical profession
➖Bring doctors’ pay down
➖Break the strikes
This is an obvious large-scale replacement of doctors with cheaper staff.
Just for the record: when things start getting even worse in our EDs it's not because our teams don't know how to do their jobs, or because of strikes, and whilst flu won't be helping it's not just that either. It's because there are no beds to start with. Already.
Baroness Mone hits out at @KemiBadenoch over the Tories/PPE/VIP lane:
‘your party & your people knew of my role & the role of 51 other mostly Conservative peers & MPs who introduced contracts through what became known as the VIP lane
I acted no differently than… Matt Hancock who referred 4 companies, Lord Agnew & Lord Feldman who referred 3 companies each, Lord Chadlington who was actually a director & shareholder of a parent company that won 2 contracts worth £23.9m & £26.1m respectively.
And let’s not forget Michael Gove & his referral of 4 contracts to his friend David Meller of David Meller Group Ltd’
Also says ‘once I do clear my name, I have no wish to return to the Lords as Conservative peer’
@DrVoles Postpartum lady books into MAU with lower abdo pain and PV bleeding. Refused by MAU. She is 43 days postpartum, MAU cut off is 6 weeks postpartum. Yes. Full of it. Full of bureaucratic $hit
