@ArturNadol7566 There is a phrase that I think should come to mind whenever we hear about crimes against us and innocents like this; 'Asset strip and execute'.
I am 100% certain that this would not have happened if white collar crime was taken seriously and there were real consequences.
LAW FIRM THAT DESTROYED TRACY MCFADDEN'S CASE ALSO PAID ED DAVEY 60,000 POUNDS A YEAR
Tracy McFadden ran a shop and post office in Sandiacre Derbyshire for 14 years. She put 250k pounds of her own money into building it in 2002. Business was going so well she was planning to expand. Then the Horizon system flagged a discrepancy and her life fell apart.
Tracy McFadden did the responsible thing. She called the Horizon helpline for help. The debt magically doubled to 2,000 pounds overnight. Then it kept climbing. 4,000. Then 16,000.
Tracy had no way to check the system herself because she was never given proper access to it.
She was told to accept the debt or lose the right to trade. So she accepted a debt that never existed just to keep her doors open.
She only escaped a criminal prosecution because witnesses vouched for her, including the wife of a regional Post Office manager.
Her contract was terminated in 2014. The business was gone. The reputation was gone. Tracy McFadden went from running a thriving shop to what she describes as begging for benefits.
Now here is the SHOCKING part.
This was never just a broken piece of software. It was a chain of people who knew and chose their careers over the truth.
Post Office executives signed off on prosecutions built on a system riddled with bugs. Fujitsu built that system and stayed quiet for years while it destroyed lives.
Ed Davey was postal affairs minister from 2010 to 2012 while all of this was unfolding. When campaigner Alan Bates asked him to meet about serious concerns with Horizon, Ed Davey told him a meeting would not serve any purpose.
Years later Ed Davey took a paid consultancy with Herbert Smith Freehills, the very law firm hired by the Post Office to fight the sub postmasters in court, earning 275k pounds for his time there. His brother Henry Davey was a corporate partner at the same firm.
What a coincidence.
Tracy McFadden was one of 555 claimants in the group litigation against the Post Office. They won. Technically. Legal costs swallowed most of the settlement before the victims ever saw a penny of it.
A computer did not do this to Tracy McFadden. People did. People who had every chance to stop it and chose their fees and their careers instead.

NHS HAS A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE FOR DESTROYING WHISTLEBLOWERS
Peter Gooderham was an academic lawyer and former doctor. He spent most of his working life trying to understand why @NHS staff who raised patient safety concerns kept ending up bankrupt, mentally broken, or both. Before he died in 2011, he sat down with Private Eye (@PrivateEyeNews) and documented the playbook in full.
It goes like this.
First, cut their secretarial support. Block their merit awards. Briefing against them informally. Tell colleagues they have attitude problems and can't move on. None of this is illegal. All of it is deliberate.
Then dig up dirt. Real or invented. Allege mental illness. The stress of the process makes this self-fulfilling, which is convenient. Refuse to disclose documents. Claim it's a local employment matter. The Department of Health will back this up because they always do.
Then apply to the Treasury for public money to pay them off and shut them up. Some gagging agreements require the whistleblower to sign statements saying all their concerns have been addressed. Even when they haven't. Even when people are still dying.
If they refuse the money, send the lawyers. Threaten libel. Throw public funds at employment tribunals, where NHS trusts are seasoned professionals and the whistleblower is walking in alone. If the trust loses, appeal. Keep appealing until the whistleblower runs out of money. The public purse is unlimited. Their savings are not.
And if none of that works, don't worry. Public inquiries are, in Gooderham's own words, belated exercises in grief management that seldom change anything. By the time one arrives, the people responsible have moved on and the problems are dismissed as historical.
The Gooderham playbook was not a historical curiosity. A @Channel4 investigation found gagging clauses in 55 of 64 NHS compromise agreements sampled. Over 40 NHS organisations refused to provide information on how many they had signed. One trust wanted over £10,000 just to produce the information. Another argued you couldn't even publish their reasons for refusing.
This is a system that was designed, iteratively, over decades, to neutralise whistleblowers.
The public funds the mechanism. The mechanism silences the people trying to protect the public. And then a public inquiry happens 15 years later and describes the culture as disappointing.

Many congratulations, Wyn! Yet, nothing can bring back the stolen time and the protracted stress! But it is good that Mr Browne/Shakespeare Martineau LLP and Ms Reindorf (- they have been working together for c. two decades) were not able to realise their usual sophistry and truth denialism!

Is the HC acting lawfully & fairly? Mrs J Thornton (- the partner of the Gov. Minister Ed Miliband) is aware of the requirements of her office and due process. After all, these are the basics of any legal system claiming to be governed by the rule of law & rights' protection 👇!
The scandal broke publicly 16 days ago -- making this statement about a fortnight too late.
Then again, Cambridge has known since 2023, so in truth it’s closer to three years too late

@ArturNadol7566 Accountability??
Justice? ?
Fairness??
She should be so ashamed.
A woman who puts greed before all moral principles.
Am I correct in thinking she calls herself a Christian?
Pauls Vennells took close to £5 million in pay and bonuses over her seven years running the Post Office, including £2.93 million in performance related perks and pension in lieu payments.
During that same period, the Post Office prosecuted subpostmasters using data from a computer system it knew was flawed, and more than 900 were wrongly convicted of theft or false accounting between 1999 and 2015.
Some went to prison, others were made bankrupt or lost their livelihoods entirely. When Computer Weekly first exposed problems with the Horizon system, Vennells sent a company wide email rather than address the failures, according to a former executive.
She stepped down in 2019 just before a High Court judgment condemned the company's conduct, and some of the subpostmasters affected have since died without ever seeing compensation.

#PostOfficeScandal Latest by @taaffems for @SkyNews
A Scandal within a scandal. How many times have we heard that before with this @PostOffice scandal? The @DWP prosecutions showed the exact same patterns as the Post Office ones, investigators didn’t properly investigate, they had confirmation bias and refused to look at all possibilities including evidence that pointed away from the suspects.
The continuous delay in appointing a reviewer is unexcusable. It seems a deliberate attempt to delay justice being delivered for a large number of victims. We have already sadly lost so many along the way and we could lose more whilst these delays continue. Even after a reviewer is announced the review will likely take many months and we must push for the terms of reference to be expanded as right now they are wholly inadequate

The Inquiry has today published its third paper under the Listening Project, following an engagement session in Scotland. It records the bullying, harassment, displacement, shame & trauma experienced by those impacted by the Post Office Horizon Scandal:

THE LAWYERS WHO HELPED JAIL INNOCENT POSTMASTERS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION
Funny thing about lawyers. They spend every working day telling the rest of us to trust the process and respect the evidence. Then the evidence turns out to be garbage and the process turns out to be them, and suddenly nobody remembers a thing.
10 barristers are under investigation by the Bar Standards Board @barstandards.
20 solicitors are being probed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority @sra_solicitors.
The allegation is that they helped the Post Office wrongly prosecute close to 1000 sub postmasters through the Horizon IT scandal. At least 13 deaths have been linked to it.
These were not just junior lawyers pushing paper. They were strategy advisers. They told the Post Office a broken accounting system was solid while people went to prison on the strength of it.
During the Bates litigation some of them even tried to get Mr Justice Fraser removed from the case, presumably because he kept noticing things they preferred he didnt.
Hearings are expected this summer. The BSB says cases will move to its decision making panel this year. Nobody has been struck off. Nobody has been jailed. Postmasters are still waiting for compensation that was promised years ago.
The legal profession is now asking itself how so many of its own crossed lines.
Lovely bit of reflection.

Courts play the most crucial role in the asset stripping criminal enterprise; court documents are often forged or written by non-named Court officers or based on breaches of the rules & the abuse of the rights of the targets! TWMs & CROs are then issued on those who complain!
An informative post on how many institutions of the U.K. state are involved in the asset stripping organised crime and how they facilitate it!
It is worth watching it! Note the provisions of the Acts that are breached by institutions which in theory exist in order to protect us!

“lawyers are skilled in “manipulating rules and reframing facts”, which can allow or encourage them to “fall into the trap of creating facts that are untrue”. “
It is difficult to see how any University or public authority can defend the authorship of emails/letters/decisions/reports by persons other than those who sent them or signed them (i.e., Human Resources, their Lawyers)! Firstly, they engage in a deliberate misrepresentation. Secondly, they violate the integrity and impartiality requirements for the investigation of any complaint and thus due process! Thirdly, they violate their own policies and procedures which often make reference to natural justice, fairness and the objective determination of facts!
It is also interesting how colleagues and associates become just pawns in opaque and unfair processes! No ethics, no compliance with the rules and no empathy!
At the same time, Human Resources and lawyers cannot be involved unless an academic of the senior management of the University (often a VC or Pro-VC or Head of Faculty) instructs them to do so! They are the true instigators relying on Human Resources and their lawyers for the execution of their wishes! In the process, they will use other academics and will reward them for their involvement!
