Actually I have a third thing. The original victim, Tony Parsons gets a bit lost in the story. I get that the focus was on Caroline but this was a 3 part show; some of those selfie shot scenes could have been cut.
Just watched Should I Marry a Murderer and there are two things that stand out,
1. The blatant misogyny and patriarchy induced incompetence of the police/head protector.
2. How perceptions of white womanhood both protected and harmed Caroline Muirhead
Tbh, not capitalising the B here makes me suspicious about *who* posted this. And what their motives are from within a party that is yet to address *its own* anti-Blackness and misogynoir, but comfy enough to use Black people as a rhetorical device on social media. For shame.
And notice how not a single mental health or disability advocacy group is jumping to his defense, because they recognise his mental health conditions don't excuse the behaviour, nor the ableist comments made towards Beyoncé's children.
People will gladly fling the word “intersectionality” until they have to put it into practice. This is what we are witnessing with Kanye. Because some of us know that antisemitism is not the only identity-based harm he has perpetrated. His anti-Blackness is well documented.
State-sanctioned deplatforming, especially when it involves borders, is eye-opening. Who gets blocked? Why and what for (and not)? What is and isn't deemed worthy for the state to deploy borders in this way? What are the hierarchies of protection? All important to note.
It is incredibly frustrating to have our concerns dismissed and ignored. There is hardly any mention of his anti-Blackness. He could and should have been denied entry for ALL his bigoted actions.
When I think about this, I think about him dressing up as a KKK member and his anti-Black behaviour…and how no one non-Black has anything to say because that aligns with this world’s casteism with African peoples at the bottom.
I was explaining to Niece the Elder that during the school holidays, prices go up for things that children like to do.
Me: I am sure economists have word for when price increases with demand. I can’t think of it.
The Elder: Scam?
