A fun thing about making music – it changes how you listen to music.
Here’s a short blog post on my newfound appreciation for the #clavinet.

Big shout out to my friend Pete Miser for "My Mom's Prius," which dropped today.
I had a glimpse at an early cut but the final is even better.
Highly recommend.
Their full album, "Portland Say It Again" will be out on May 5th.

Great to see @ThatEricAlper adding my recent release "One of These Days" to his playlist "360: The Best Indie Music: Updated Daily."
Thanks @ThatEricAlper !!!
And yet, despite this comparatively small production footprint, the #clavinet has a huge, outsized impact on rock, reggae, soul and funk in the 70s and early 80s.

Fun fact on the #clavinet: About 40,000 clavinets were ever produced worldwide by the German instrument company Hohner over a fairly brief eighteen year stint from 1964 to 1982. By contrast, nearly 3 million electric and acoustic guitars are sold in the US alone each year.
The song is also my first foray into singing lead, and I’m grateful and lucky to have guest artist Rachael Lampa accompany me on vocals.
Thanks for your interest in The Doc Project!

I’m stoked by how this cover version of "One of These Days" came together. From the song’s bass line, to Akil Thompson’s adept keys, and to the opening guitar lick, mirrored by an electric clav for texture, the elements are varied but I think they knit together really well.
Have you listened to the entire 'Lost Bags' album yet? If you have, you know that horns play a big role in the creation of the album. If you haven't, click the link below and give it a listen!
