Absolutely shocked at the Anti Semitic incident that has taken place against the Jewish Community in our country.
As soon as I woke up this morning, I expressed my thoughts to my sisters in @nisanashim.
I’m at a loss as to what to say. We are living in what is supposed to be a civilised society. Innocent people from all faith groups predominantly Jews and Muslims in the UK are being targeted.
This is just another level though. An Ambulance that offers life and death support to citizens in our country.
Outrageous at every level and hateful. I hope the perpetrators will be caught soon and the community is being protected at this time. Even though this is London, we must not forget a community in any part of the country that is affected, should be everyone’s problem, everywhere.
We will never give up the fight to make this a tolerant country where faith groups should be able to live and thrive in peace.

We love the fact we had Peterborough’s Eid in the Square for the first time. A beautiful effort and we know our friend, @MayorofLondon had one fantastic Eid on the Square in London event.
We would love to welcome him to our humble city one day to celebrate with us too!

As the Leader of Peterborough City Council, I wish one and all, Eid Ul Adha Mubarak!
Grateful for the opportunity to lead the city again as Council Leader alongside this fabulous team.
But I want to send this message to everyone which I read out at the end of my speech:
“And to our residents, this Cabinet is your Cabinet.
We start again, afresh but with one last message:
Division of communities in our city is what prevents progression. We are stronger united and have so much more in common with each other. Let me make it clear to members here that our city is diverse and inclusive. We will not shy away from calling out some of the rhetoric that has dominated our political environment over the last few months, from extreme views towards faith groups and more recently, over the weekend, the Unite the Kingdom rally exemplified elements of hatred towards Muslims.
Prior to that we saw attacks on Jews.
Peterborough is home to many faith groups and none, my message to those who indulge in peddling hate is you will have to get past us to harm our communities and we will call time on this in our city. Everyone who lives, works and contributes here is, “Peterborough” and let no one ever tell them otherwise-
Not on my watch."
I have issued a statement on Facebook this morning shortly after the horrific terrorist attack on two Jewish residents in Golders Green.
But as Leader for @PeterboroughCC , I truly struggle to gather appropriate words to describe my sentiments at this awful state of affairs.
A mixture of grief, anger, exasperation and relentless frustration as to what our country had become grips me with an immensely overwhelming feeling.
I despair at the state of affairs in our country.
It is imperative we explore why this continues to happen.
A trickle down effect of hate and normalising of extreme narratives by those in positions of responsibility must be taken seriously.
To my Jewish residents in Peterborough. I stand with you at such worrying and difficult times.
I will do everything in my power to ensure you are safe in our city.
My thoughts are with the families affected at this difficult time.
Always a pleasure to accompany my friend MP @andrewpakes_, but feels even more pertinent when we come together to commemorate events like Yom HaShoah.
May their memory be a blessing.
It was a privilege to light a candle this evening at @pborocathedral with @docshab to mark Yom HaShoah.
On this day we remember the six million Jewish men, women & children murdered in the Holocaust.
And reaffirm our commitment against antisemitism & prejudice.
@HolocaustUK
Today marks the day when Jesus Christ was resurrected.
A day that marks light after darkness and shines positivity and hope.
It is my sincere Easter wish on this day to all our residents celebrating.
Happy Easter Peterborough.
It would be nice if all the people outraged by Muslim prayers in Trafalgar Square shared this wonderful post about the Passion in the square today.
On my way to church this afternoon, I saw local rabbis in Gants Hill and Muslims going for Friday prayers. This is 🏴.
Chag Pesach Sameach and a Blessed Passover to all my friends and residents in the City celebrating .
Let this be a city where every faith group can feel safe to celebrate and practice their occasions without fear.
Sending every good wish to our Jewish Communities in Peterborough and beyond.
🚨 Revealed - £2 million Tory mess in Peterborough.
Tory council paid through the nose - over £4 million - for TX Maxx building using Towns Fund money then decided it wasn't suitable.
Building now sold for nearly half the price - £2 million of public money lost.
Today, as Leader of Peterborough City Council, I have written formally to Baron Stewart Jackson to categorically condemn his deeply offensive and inflammatory comments on social media.
His description of a demonstration as containing a “Full complement of Islamist Fascist supporting thugs and other wronguns” is factually baseless, dangerously divisive, and entirely unbecoming of a member of the House of Lords.
I have a profound duty of care to all our residents, including the 23,000 Muslims who are an integral and peaceful part of our community. Peterborough prides itself on being welcoming and inclusive. Public figures must lead by example, not use their platforms to vilify minority groups.
I am demanding a full, public, and unequivocal apology to the Muslim communities he has insulted. I will also be submitting a formal complaint to the House of Lords Commissioner for Standards regarding his conduct.
I expect an immediate public retraction of these harmful statements.
