@dob86 I’m glad staff were kind. I do think it’s a shame we need to have people wear a lanyard to force people to give compassionate care though. I wish we could be kind to all people all the time...
@dob86 My point is I didn’t know I would wheeze with a mask in public or that I am reliant on facial cues and lip reading to understand conversations until there was a mask mandate. My experience is not uncommon. I don’t wear a lanyard though.
@dob86 I think that people recognise that sunflower lanyards have a specific role.
Of people I know who don’t wear a mask, none of them wear a lanyard either.
There is no need to wear or carry anything to prove exemption as per gov advice
@dob86 Those who can tolerate a mask have very little understanding of those of us who find it unbearable.
I find it psychologically distressing to see masked faces outside of an operating surgeon. I cannot understand context and as someone who lip reads a lot, I can’t hear either...
@dob86 Their pandemic patterns have been identical to ours. Places we claimed solved covid-19 with masks have since had spread and waves.
The Denmark study showed community masking made no difference. In fact we know visors increase susceptibility to infection... 2/2
@dob86 I think that there are a lot of people who cannot wear a mask - sensory difficulties or psychological issues etc. They may manage all other aspects of daily life.
We also know from places who don’t mandate masks that community masking of well people has zero effect on spread 1/2
@AllisonPearson The list of exemptions on the gov pages is fascinating.
It took them over 6 months to stop exempting health care workers from quarantine (ridiculous and dangerous).
Now the rich and elites mixing freely don’t need to, whilst the plebs can’t see their own families abroad.
@dr_musgrave I think many, especially those children with non specific symptoms have “Long lockdown”. It’s somatisation of depression / anxiety symptoms. I do know two healthcare workers who had autonomic dysfunction post covid with a very slow but steady recovery so it’s real but rare.
Back on January 18th, the German state of Bavaria mandated “higher quality” N95 masks that “unlike other coverings, protect the person wearing the mask.” The rest of Germany did not mandate N95's.
It made absolutely no difference. Because masks have never made a difference.
@gaswomancometh@TheObsPod (As in good behaviour... we want to be friends with you and good communication / behaviour from all parties always makes the day go better)
Oh, and always go on the ward round, day and night if you aren’t already in theatre!
@gaswomancometh Listen to @TheObsPod episode 11 Caesarean section
Remember you are a vital part of the team and team behaviour goes both ways.
If the woman says she’s feeling pain or cold when you are assessing the epidural, she is. She isn’t “anxious” or “hard work”; the block’s suboptimal...
In answer to my own question... having set out to opt-out from the data-scrape of NHS records earlier today, I am even more appalled after seeing what @NHSDigital is up to, and what appears suspiciously like them making deliberate attempts to mislead the public. n/1
@dob86@WelshGasDoc That was my favourite Internet forum saga of all time. The dog! The car crash. The crap internet photos of babies dressed as flowers...
BREAKING: Full, damning statement from Sir Kevan Collins, who’s resigned as education recovery tsar over govt’s plans to help kids catch up.
“A half-hearted approach risks failing hundreds of thousands of pupils... It is too narrow, too small and will be delivered too slowly.”
1st: Antibodies are present for over a year post-infection. Several studies, include one with >95% antibody positive.
