Imagine it's September 2025
The war in Ukraine is ongoing
We had a summer of fires
And a winter of floods
Rangitoto erupted three weeks ago, and airspace above Auckland is still closed
And, yesterday, Wellington was hit with a 7.4 earthquake
THINK:
Who do you want as PM?
I love getting to interact with our community on @thrombosisday! Thanks to all who joined the #ClotChat. It is a pleasure raising awareness with you. #WTDay22
A9: We look forward to a future where HAT prevention is standard at hospitals around the world, with an emphasis on risk assessment and proper thromboprophylaxis. #WTDay22#ClotChat
A8: This is so important!
So much work has already been done so there’s no need to start from scratch.
Talk to others to see what is working for them. And check out resources from groups such as @StopTheClot@isth@thrombosisday#clotchat#WTDay22
Many perimenopausal and menopausal women are denied HRT for the wrong reasons which needs to change. Accurate information for healthcare professionals and all people is essential #clotchat#WTDay22@balanceMeno
A9. #VTE is a serious healthcare problem affecting over 1 in 1000 adults worldwide annually & we must continue to build awareness & knowledge of it. All hospital systems should be encouraged to have a mandatory VTE prevention protocol in place. #ClotChat#WTDay22
A9: I envision increased awareness and all hospitals having risk assessment strategies in place and ways to reduce risk of VTE including use of anticoagulants #ClotChat#WTDay22 🤞🤞
A9: I envision a world where all patients, including patients on gender-affirming hormone replacement therapy, are provided with a #VTE risk assessment and treated with proper prophylaxis ensuring patient safety for all. #ClotChat#WTDay22
A8: Patients with cancer are 4x more likely to develop a #bloodclot and this article from @JTHJournal on the prevention of #VTE in cancer outpatients is a great resource. #ClotChat#WTDay22

A7: It’s important to remember that we can’t do it alone; working with policymakers takes a village to educate, engage and spur to action. #WTDay22#ClotChat
A7: Building partnerships in your community are essential. Find commonalities with other health specialties and talk with policymakers in your local government about the systems needed to improve health outcomes for patients. #WTDay22#ClotChat
A6: A huge issue at our hospital is alert fatigue.
Clinicians receive so many alerts in the EMR that they may bypass completion of the risk assessment if there isn’t a hard stop.
#clotchat#WTDay22
A6: There are several essential elements needed to achieve meaningful improvement in #VTE prevention: Empowered, interdisciplinary team to standardize processes, monitor & measure VTE processes and outcomes, implement policies & educate providers and patients. #WTDay22#ClotChat
A5: Pregnancy-associated #VTE is major cause of sickness & death. Repeat risk assessments are essential: early in pregnancy, during hospital admissions, at birth & following birth to assess if risk factors change. Read more: https://t.co/lvZrPoqP8X #WTDay22#ClotChat
