New data suggests parathyroidectomy significantly outperforms cinacalcet in reducing cardiovascular risk for patients w/ dialysis-independent tertiary hyperparathyroidism.

Propensity-matched analysis of 1,760 patients found surgery was associated with a 36% reduction in major adverse cardiac events and 67% reduction in atrial fib over 5-year period.

Findings support surgical intervention as a definitive strategy to mitigate long-term cardiovascular morbidity in post-transplant populations.

Few systems I have learnt from music:
1.Learning something takes immense time and patience. It took me 5–6 years of sticking to it to really begin to grasp the absolute magic being some masterpieces.
2.Don’t give up too easily/ Don’t chase quick shortcuts. This part of the variations took me 2 months of practise and showing up and for what? Half a minute of gorgeousness. I genuinely sometimes cannot believe in what my hands are capable of!
3.Find people who you share the disbelief with. People who get it. People who understand there is more to it than meets the eye.
4.There is no secret sauce. The instructions are simple and everybody knows it. You just have to stick around to find out the amazing things youre capable of!
5.Stay curious. Learn something for the heck of it. There rarely is material profit in the things truly worth doing.

Presented in HPB for the very first time as someone researching endocrine surgery. They were kind! We discussed how socioeconomic deprivation affects mortality in #pancreaticcancer not directly but by adding to the physiological stress burden i.e Allostatic Load! Excited to have presented our abstract demonstrating the effects of hyperparathyroidism and parathyroidectomy on patient activity at #ASC2026 using @fitbit data on @AllofUsResearch. Our encouraging results have made us put in an IRB to prospectively study this @UABSurgery. It is exciting to chase tangents of clinical enquiry. Excited about applying the things i picked up in coding/AI/NLPs as an academic surgeon #Match2026. All thanks to @herbchen for creating these opportunities!

I think #match2026 interviews taught me more about myself than anything else. While certain questions may seem simple and easy to “tackle”, we barely take the time to reflect on our experiences and question ourselves on why we operate a certain way until we do. This reveals a multitude of things we should be tremendously grateful for.

In a particular conversation with an attending about something seemingly simple about how important it is to remain curious, and have an inner drive for self education and growth, I impromptu spoke about how my mother had to give up her career after marriage to take care of her children but took the time well into my high school to sit and teach me and in this way teach herself and learn something new.

I 100% get my drive to educate myself from my mother who gave her everything into seeing to it that her children were educated above anything else. I called her immediately after and told her how grateful I was for her.
