Today the HHS Secretary made an announcement that will cripple the health care system's ability to prepare for the fall respiratory season. The #AAFP will always fight for family medicine and public health.
One of the greatest deceptions of our time is the false narrative that we should be more concerned about a poor person misusing the welfare system or an immigrant being here illegally than we are about cruel people having unprecedented wealth and power over all of us.
@_celia_bedelia_ They either don’t believe it or have decided that the people who will be hurt are not important. Not realizing that most of us will be at some point.

Because the media is already getting everything as wrong as they possibly can, let's go over what actually happened with Colombia yesterday.
Under Biden/Harris, Colombia accepted more than 400 deportation flights, 120 just in 2024 alone. These were normal commercial planes. 1/
The amount of hate doctors are getting right now is off the charts, and people just don’t seem to get the consequences of it.
Let’s get something straight: doctors didn’t go into this field to watch patients suffer or get rich quick. The fact that people think that is honestly laughable. The years of sacrifice, the debt we carry, I t’s unreal.
No one signed up for a system where we barely get time with patients who have to wait months, sometimes over a year, to see us. That’s not why we chose this.
Most of us became doctors because we genuinely wanted to help people. We started out excited, hopeful, and ready to make a difference. But then reality hit. Hard.
The truth? Doctors are leaving in droves. Some are starting private practices, others are just walking away. A lot are ditching insurance altogether, and honestly, I get it. Insurance companies have made practicing medicine harder than ever, and it’s draining our ability to actually help people.
We KNOW how bad the system is. We know patients struggle to get care. We know many of you have been let down by the system. WE’RE FRUSTRATED TOO. But if more doctors leave, who will be left to take care of you and your family?
We didn’t sign up to practice medicine like this. A lot of us are trying to change it from the inside, but it’s exhausting, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We didn’t become doctors to spend 10 minutes with you and barely have the time to help.
Meanwhile, people are using the broken system to spread mistrust: “Doctors only care about money” they say. But when it’s an emergency, who do you call?
I don’t have all the answers, but I’m doing everything I can to fight for this profession I love. There’s no other career I’d want. But it’s tough watching colleagues and patients struggle because of a system that’s broken.
So if there’s a doctor you’re grateful for, let them know. It’ll mean more than you think.
Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential.
Black people are relatively well prepared for what’s about to happen because it’s happened to us before. America has done this to us before. It’s just about to widen the aperture to a bunch of people who ain’t used to it.
If you know anyone with cancer, or who has a loved one with cancer, make sure they know this. Republicans voted against cancer research just to spite the president.
The disinformation being pushed by rightwing extremists regarding Pres. Biden's + the federal government's response to devastation from Hurricane Helene is disgusting, and it's also the complete opposite of what Republican leaders are saying.
