Rusya NATO'ya 4 kez girmeye çalıştı.
İlki 1954'te.
Soğuk Savaş'ın ortasında SSCB, kendisine karşı kurulan ittifaka üyelik notası gönderdi.
NATO reddetti.
9 gün sonra Varşova Paktı kuruldu.
Sovyetler dağılınca tekrar denediler.
Yeltsin 1991'de NATO'ya mektup yazdı:
"Üyeliği uzun vadeli hedefimiz olarak görüyoruz."
Ancak başvuru yapmadılar.
2000'de Putin bizzat Clinton'a sordu.
"Rusya NATO'ya girse?"
Clinton "Why not?" dedi.
Aynı dönem NATO Genel Sekreteri Robertson'a sordu:
"Bizi ne zaman davet edeceksiniz?"
"Biz kimseyi davet etmiyoruz, başvurursunuz."
"Önemsiz ülkelerle sıraya girmeyiz."
11 Eylül 2001'de Bush'u arayan ilk lider Putin'di. Afganistan'a kara koridoru açtı, istihbarat paylaştı.

Çin'in köklü araç üreticilerinden JMC bu motoru kendi kamyonuna koydu.
O kamyon Çin'de Yılın Kamyonu seçildi.
2019'da aynı motorla çalışan F-MAX, Avrupa'da Uluslararası Yılın Kamyonu seçildi.
Hangi motor?
Ecotorq. Ford Otosan.

Montajcı Çin'e teknoloji lisanslamaz. Montajcının 69 patenti olmaz. Montajcı araç ihraç eder, teknoloji ihraç etmez.
Montajcılık başkasının çizimini üretmek. Bu, kendi çizimini Çinliye satmak.
Your own footnote says it: PPP-adjusted, the per-person gap is 1.3x, not 2x. Most of that nominal spread is the dollar and big tech market caps.
Americans also spend 18% of GDP on healthcare ($15,474/person/year). Europeans spend 10%. That difference alone inflates US output without ever reaching a paycheck. OECD 2025 PPP disposable income: US $62,700, Germany $48,000. A gap, but not the gap this chart is selling.
@KobeissiLetter 100 million barrels spread over 4 months is a rounding error compared to global daily consumption.
Draining strategic reserves for political optics doesn't solve the underlying refinery bottlenecks.

China may be hiding half of the gold it buys.
In May, Beijing reported buying 10 tonnes. Goldman Sachs, tracking gold flowing out of London's market into domestic vaults and custodians, put it at 48. In July: 20 reported, 35 estimated.
Then Goldman checked the Bank of England's vaults. Gold held there for foreign central banks rose 63 tonnes in July alone.
Goldman's own conclusion: even its estimate is missing purchases.
That London vault is the part Beijing wants to replace.
The People's Bank of China has been pitching friendly central banks to buy gold and keep it in China. Cambodia is reportedly among the first to say yes.
In July, Hong Kong started trial runs of its own gold clearing system, wired into the Shanghai Gold Exchange, with its own price ticker on Bloomberg terminals.
The hidden tonnes look less like a reserve and more like inventory for a market China wants to run.
They call this data-dependent policy. 43% response rate. That's the survey behind the world's most important economic number.
The Fed hiked rates on it 16 days ago. August just got revised away, September printed 29K. Most businesses don't even bother filling it out. Trump won't need to say a word, the numbers just did.
2008, US banks wiped out $10 trillion in household wealth. The Fed printed $4.5 trillion, Treasury cut a $700 billion check. They called it quantitative easing.
SVB collapsed in 2023. The Fed backstopped every depositor overnight, including uninsured ones above $ 250K. The word was "stability."
Turkey can't print dollars. It can't export its inflation. So when its funds blow up, the cleanup looks uglier. But the transfer is the same.
6 days since Trump asked Xi to keep fuel markets stable.
Stocks at multi-year lows. Russia's diesel ban extended yesterday. Brent surged. Beijing didn't say no. The permits just didn't come.
Xi probably nodded yes at the summit. The stockpiles said no.
@StealthQE4 If rates drop, prices rip. If rates hold, nobody sells.
There is no path where a median-income
American buys a median-priced home.
3% holders can't sell. 7.6% buyers can't buy. The only one moving is the price.
in every regulated market on earth, a politically exposed person depositing 163M liras (~$3.3M) in cash triggers an automatic AML flag.
in Turkey, it didn't.
455,000 investors are still waiting for their money. and the same government is out there trying to attract foreign capital.
Good luck explaining this to a compliance desk in London.
an outside observer watching Turkey’s latest financial scandal can spot the palace's paralysis in 5 seconds.
in any normal legal system, when a ruling party deputy like Fatma Betül is caught in a multi-billion stock robbery, the first 3 steps are automatic:
immediate party expulsion, an emergency asset freeze, and a prosecutor’s subpoena asking where her initial 163 million liras in cash came from.
in Ankara, none of that has happened.
the AKP hasn't expelled her. prosecutors are waiting for palace permission to ask a single question. and the state expects 86 million citizens to pretend this silence is normal procedure.
when an autocrat cannot even bring himself to expel a deputy caught red-handed, he is not trying to protect the politician.
he is desperately protecting the machine that made the robbery possible.
The toxicity is load-bearing.
Wall Street, Hollywood, NASA in the 60s, Detroit before the Japanese ate it. Every cluster that ever dominated ran on the same brutal pecking order.
The dinner-party stack-ranking he describes is just the sorting function running in public.
Take it out and you don't unlock creativity. You get a coworking space in Lisbon with 40 founders and zero revenue.
I left Silicon Valley 6 years ago
Why?
Because it's a monoculture
The most extreme group think of any place on the planet
Show up to a dinner party and everyone is in tech
So what do they do? They start stack-ranking each other
And it's a totally ordered set: being founder of co $100B market cap > founder of co with $50B market cap > managing partner of tier 1 venture firm > hired CEO of $50B public co > founder of $10B co > etc etc
Pure toxicity that nerfs creativty
And then as a corollary, people are especially afraid to speak truth to power as everyone knows their place in
"The Hierarchy"
Reject this nonsense. Stay weird. Think independently. Be honest with yourself. Have fun.
The most repeated line on Wall Street is "there's cash on the sidelines."
Money market assets as a share of S&P 500 market cap are at their lowest in over 20 years.
The cushion everyone assumes will catch the fall barely exists.

The entire inequality debate runs on wages. The 0.1% barely collects them.
