It’s plain wrong that our precious peat lands are unprotected. They are a global community asset, not a private commodity and the law should be changed to reflect this.
REVEALED: Just 124 landowners own most of England's deep peat, our single largest carbon store.
The UK Govt - and the public - urgently need to challenge these landowners to protect and restore our peatlands.

Can we stop expecting miracles when there is a new PM?
Seen so many people asking why they have to wait for energy support and moaning about bus fares being capped.
Honestly!
There will no doubt be much to debate about in the future - serious stuff like energy but any new PM is allowed a couple of days before everyone goes for the jugular....surely?
I want Burnham to do well because I want the country to do well and that means I am watching out for environmental news. But I really hope there will be many more Greens in the HoC at the next GE....or even, a Green Govt but even so, some things take time.
As they cry about

Add Electoral Commission and now likely HMRC to the list below - involving Farage, Tice and Jenrick
Deu no "Los Angeles Times".
"A Argentina perdeu mais do que uma final de Copa do Mundo. Perdeu a sua classe e o seu decoro."
Quantos anos até que se desfaça o estrago na imagem causado pela violência e pela arrogância desse grupo de jogadores?
French actor and former footballer Eric Cantona has called for a sporting boycott of Israeli teams, urging clubs and players around the world to refuse participation against them.
LeaveEU have consistently promoted Russian foreign policies. This has not been covert. It's like @Nigel_Farage support of Putin & Russia in the European Parliament. It's out there in the open. But now we have shocking & disturbing new info about how this works...
“Wessex Water chief pockets above-inflation pay rise despite bonus ban over sewage spills.”
The previous govt were warned, by no less a figure than the chairman of Thames Water, you ban our bonuses we’ll just double the salaries.
This is what happens when you don’t listen.

A year ago today I was violently arrested dragged down stone steps painfully handcuffed roughly handled by a gang of thuggish police who managed knock my glasses to the pavement, expose the top half of my body, all of my bra and not one of them, man or woman did the decent thing to save me being exposed. I’m 75 now. I didn’t shout, struggle or give any sort of abuse or even disrespect the police. I was peacefully holding a piece of paper with words on- nothing more. I was held in a cell until 11.30 and effectively held under house arrest for weeks. I’m charged under the terrorism act. The court dates keep getting changed and we are a real problem. I feel a connection with the thousands of us who have done this - Im proud that we are fighting for our freedom of speech, our right to protest and against genocide. It’s not much but it’s the least we can do.
As I predicted yesterday the anti-Miliband wave has got going. A former editor of the Jewish Chronicle is calling it the most ‘nauseating’ political appointment ever. That’ll be because Miliband once said he thought the UK should recognise a Palestinian state. Miliband is Jewish.
Vladimir Putin couldn't deliver a speech at the UN due to ICC arrest warrant, but Benjamin Netanyahu can deliver his speech at the UN even with ICC arrest warrant?!
Arresting Maduro before arresting Netanyahu is certainly not what international law order.
If you are wondering why they are killing journalists, healthcare workers, aid workers, and UN staff, it's because they are the people who will testify in court as to what war crimes committed.
If you are wondering why they are calling for the abolition of the International Criminal Court, it’s because it’s the court that will put them on trial as to what war crimes committed.
They are killing both the witnesses and the court. They are willing to abolish the International Criminal Court so that Netanyahu and others will not be prosecuted.
International law has not failed; This’s not the failure of the law. The law stands and its principles remain clear. The failure is our collective will to uphold it, and to put a punishment for those who violate the international law.
How much the Zionist lobby has control over the world order?!
We need a strong United Nations... and strong UN officials capable of standing firm against war criminals—We the PEOPLE of the UNITED NATIONS determined to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war and maintain international peace, to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, and to establish respect for international law.
Netanyahu belongs in The Hague. He's a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court and is now an international fugitive from justice.
Netanyahu war crimes trial is going to be historic.
We—THE PEOPLE—are capable of achieving peace and justice if we unite against war and injustice.
Nothing escapes the judgment of history.
A lovely view of Exmoor ponies in Countisbury, captured by Jay Carter during a recent visit to Exmoor.
Jay said: "I love the breed, the history of how they have evolved ....I know this wouldn't be possible without the fantastic work the Society does ...."
Imagine death penalty for Christians only, for Jews only, for Bavarians or Parisians only. People belonging to a group presumed guilty and deprived of civilians status.
Only because they want to live as a people. Free on their land.
This is what colonial repression looks like.

Here's a story that should be revisited involving Farage, hedge-fund owner Crispin Odey, sexual harassment, and, on the sidelines, Russia.
Hedge fund owner Crispin Odey, who had donated more than £870,000 to pro-Leave groups including UKIP, made £220m on the Referendum night in 2016.
Around 2am of that night Farage made the bizarre claim that Remain was winning, which sent the Pound soaring before subsequently crashing. Anyone familiar with trading on the foreign exchange market with large anounts of money available who had been tipped off about Farage's statement would have been in a position to make enormous amounts of money. I'm not saying that happened in the case of Odey, but I think it's reasonable to speculate as to whether Farage's strange claim, which was both uncharacteristic and defied the growing evidence pointing to a Leave victory, was intended to financially benefit one or more individuals.
Odey is a creep. Reform UK accepted donations from him despite sexual assault allegations from multiple women who worked with him. Eventually he had to leave the hedge fund he founded because of the allegations.
Rees-Mogg received £22,000 in donations from Odey.
Odey was formerly married to Rupert Murdoch’s oldest daughter. He incubated Rees-Mogg’s SCM at start-up and donated more than £870,000 to pro-Leave groups
And unsurprisingly there is a Russian connection. Odey reaped millions from investing in a Russian mining company owned by a Russian oligarch close to Putin.
