1./ 최근에 터진 다들 아실만한 Wintermute hack 사건에 대해서 저도 조사를 해봤는데요.

우선, 원인은 Vanity address 때문이었습니다.

해커들이 Wintermute가 만든 vanity address를 brute force 공격으로 대입해서 private key를 알아냈고, 자산을 탈취했습니다.

1/ 메이커다오가 최근 미국 국채/채권에 5억 달러를 투자함. 이를 보고 메이커다오의 스테이블 코��� DAI가 '더 안정적'이 될 것이란 생각이 먼저 들 수 있다. 하지만 일견 불안하다. 스테이블 코인이 팔리지 않는 미국 국채, 채권을 위한 '안정적인' 수요처가 될 것 같다는 생각에서다.

7./그리고 vanity address를 만들어주는 서비스를 쓸 때는 코드를 보든 리서치를 하든 해서 좀 더 안전하게 주소를 만드는지 확인하고 쓰는게 제일 좋을 것 같아요 ㅎㅎ

Wintermute was hacked for ~160m a few hours ago.

I took a quick look and my best guess is that it was a hot wallet compromise due to the Profanity bug that was publicly disclosed a few weeks ago.

6./Vanity address를 쓰는분들은 prefix랑 suffix를 커스텀하지 않고 쓰는게 제일 좋을 것 같습니다.(물론 256비트 주소 자체를 brute force해서 뚫는건 거의 안된다고 봐야겠지만, 주소의 일부분을 특정해버리면 결국 공격자에게 확률을 내어주는 거라고 볼 수 있어서 저는 위험도가 있다고 봅니다.)
