“Honestly, until recently, I didn’t really know NCT Doyoung well. Actually, even now, I still don’t know him that well. The only thing I knew was that his older brother is the actor Gongmyung. I had watched a season of a camping program that his brother appeared in.
He just seemed like a well-mannered young man, and that was all. Then this time, I happened to see various sides of his younger brother, Doyoung. It was purely by chance.
And now, there’s only one thought I have now: “I’m rooting for you.” That’s all.”
This was a post written on my personal SNS after first getting to know NCT’s Doyoung about two months ago.
It has already been about six months since I began working in a new department. On weekdays, I work in Sejong, and on Friday evenings, I head to Seoul. At first, I even considered commuting to Seoul every day. However, I gave up after just three weeks. Matching the SRT schedule and repeatedly traveling between Suseo Station and Osong Station, the pressure of being pressed for time tightened around me more than I expected. Invisible fatigue gradually built up.
It was during that period of time. On April 24, there was an event at Cheonggye Plaza in Seoul. It was a place prepared over more than a month. The role I was assigned to was related to suicide prevention among military personnel. Among those duties was appointing an Ambassador of Life to represent the military.
At first, there were several candidates. After much consideration, the person selected was idol group NCT’s Doyoung. To be honest, I did not know him well. What songs he sang, what kind of image he showed on broadcasts. I met him without really knowing these things.
And at the moment we first met, one thought passed through my mind: “Celebrities are, indeed, celebrities.”
The presence that came from his appearance and aura was clearly different. However, up until that point, I still did not know about him as a ‘person.’ I only knew that he had consistently continued donations until before enlistment. That was all.
Then he said: “If I can pass on the love I have received to someone else, I think that alone holds meaning.”
The words that came from his mouth were short, but they lingered strangely long. At first, I thought they were prepared words. But within a conversation that continued for nearly an hour, that thought gradually began to shake. There was no hesitation in his words, and his gaze did not waver. It did not feel like something said for others to hear, but rather like words he had already repeated to himself many times.
At that moment, I reflected more deeply on myself. Since when had I been judging people by outward appearance and brief information? I felt ashamed of myself several times.
As the conversation gradually eased, we exchanged light jokes. Only then did I finally see it—not the celebrity on stage, but Doyoung as a person. Judging by age, I am clearly older, but at certain moments, I felt that there were actually many things I had to learn from him.
On the day of the event, Cheonggye Plaza was filled with people from early on. They were fans who had gathered to see Doyoung. It was far more people than expected, and for a moment, concerns about safety crossed my mind. However, that concern did not last long.
The fans quietly, and in an orderly manner, kept their places. No one pushed forward excessively, and they maintained space while being considerate of one another. Even after Doyoung left to return to his unit, many fans remained until the end and watched the performance.
Watching that scene, a thought naturally came to me: “Fans eventually come to resemble that person.”
Perhaps the attitude and heart/feelings he showed were conveyed just as they were to his fans as well.

South Korea Suicide Prevention Policy Office Instagram Update #DOYOUNG#도영
“Loyalty! This is NCT Doyoung, Private Kim Dongyoung, joining the ‘Life Protection Project’ as an Ambassador of Life this time. I am truly happy to take part, with the hope of giving back the love I have received from so many people and offering strength to someone who may be going through difficult hardships. Military life has been a continuous journey of leaving behind familiar surroundings and learning to steady myself within unfamiliar rules and discipline. In those tough moments, what I often recalled was the belief I frequently shared with my fans: ‘tomorrow will surely be happier.’ Even if this moment is difficult, happiness will come unexpectedly without fail.
Everyone, let us wait together for a tomorrow that is happier than today. I hope that many people, including our soldiers, will be able to say they are struggling when they are having a hard time. Saying ‘I’m struggling’ is not a sign of weakness, but rather a stronger act of expressing one’s true feelings. Let us all take good care of our own hearts, and gently look after the hearts of those beside us as well. To all soldiers of the Republic of Korea, fighting! The lives of our servicemen are more precious than anything in this world.”

no overseas concert/schedule, hawaii vacation, and not even enlistment can stop doyoung from supporting those he adores and loves 🩵
to taeyeon & sj - dy on overseas concert (solo & group)
to wish (in japan) - dy in korea(?)
to haechan - dy on vacation in hawaii
to yuta - SPECIALS was filmed in 2025(??) but blog was released just recently

This edit is such a flex. Doyoung is still the most win member in NCT with a long list solo gigs like musical, OST singer MC, GBA for D&G, models for brand. And the most important thing is being successful with his solo career

This is Doyoung.
I think it's not like me or NCT 127 to just wait for time to pass without saying anything, so I'm going to express how I feel in my own language.

[PRESS] NCT’s Doyoung surprises with self-composed tribute song for fallen Cheonan sailors… the sincerity of ‘Soldier Kim Dongyoung’ #DOYOUNG#도영
“NCT’s Doyoung has revealed a self-composed song in honour of the fallen sailors of the Cheonan ship in conjunction with West Sea Defense Day, conveying his heartfelt message as Soldier Kim Dongyoung.
On the 27th, in observance of West Sea Defense Day, Doyoung released a tribute song dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Cheonan sinking.
At 6PM that day, he shared an update via Instagram, saying, “It’s been a while since I last greeted you. I’ve been spending my days meaningfully.”
He added, “As I spend my time serving as a soldier, I’ve been thinking about what I, soldier Kim Dongyoung, who makes music and sings, can do. I hope that through my small song, we can remember those we are grateful for.”
He also included the Korean flag and salute emojis along with the hashtag “#WestSeaDefenseDay.”
The released track is a self-composed song by Doyoung, said to contain his reflections and resolve as ‘Soldier Kim Dongyoung’ in light of the occasion. As both a soldier fulfilling his duty of national defense and an artiste, he expressed his tribute through music.
West Sea Defense Day, observed on the fourth Friday of March each year, is a national memorial day honouring those who sacrificed their lives in defending the West Sea, including victims of the ROKS Cheonan sinking. Doyoung’s choice to personally commemorate the day through song during his military service adds even deeper resonance.
Currently serving in the Republic of Korea Army’s 12th Infantry Division, Doyoung has recently drawn attention for his sincere and committed military service, including appearances at official government events.
On the 23rd, he attended the “Life Protection Project” dinner meeting hosted by Prime Minister Kim Minseok in his role as an Ambassador for Life, contributing to the spread of suicide prevention messages. At the time, he was seen in military uniform with short hair, seated next to the Prime Minister while discussing policy cooperation measures.
In addition, even after enlisting, he donated 100 million KRW to support youth preparing for independence. Both military officials and those in the entertainment industry have praised him as a role model public figure, honouring those who have served the nation while also caring for marginalised communities, even during his own service.”
