i always see people complaining that marxism has ruined art for them. but tbh i think that means they weren't really appreciating art to begin with

once you accept that art is a product of material conditions, every piece of art is a puzzle: "how does this reflect ideology?"

the critique of the game is primarily a critique of the real world. shame is uncomfortable but a good first step in acknowledging that reality

if we strayed from our original disagreement, i thought it in service of resolving our primary contradiction on the matter. i find it unfortunate this process has been aborted

@RodericDay @JonDohNumbers @StevenManicast1 and, i don't think being encouraging or delving deep into the whys with a student is soft at all, i think it's more scientific. you are typically trying to build a meaningful relationship with a student at the same time, after all

no one is entirely a good or bad cop, but it's a matter of which is primary. one is guaranteed to be more successful on the whole. having taught in multiple, i find encouragment and mutual understanding to be the most effective

i think the underlying problem is a coddled and malformed relationship to work in general
