We spent yesterday with a hall full of Nigerian women aged 35–55, talking honestly about perimenopause and menopause.
The questions they asked broke me a little. Women who’d been suffering for years, thinking something was wrong with them, when really their bodies were just doing what bodies do. I can’t really blame them, since nobody had ever explained it.
We checked vitals, ran hormone profiles, did cognitive assessments, brought doctors for consultations. Everything was free.
And we’re collecting data for a research study because Nigerian women deserve research built on them, not borrowed conclusions from somewhere else.
