Wes Streeting must surely recognise by now that he has no realistic path to the Labour leadership. The more he positions himself as an alternative to Keir Starmer, the more damage he risks doing to his own political future.
Perhaps he genuinely believes the advice he has received from Peter Mandelson and others around him. However, there comes a point when political ambition can become political self destruction.
His resignation and the political circus that followed did little to enhance his standing. If anything, it showed many British voters a level of political immaturity that they would not expect from someone seeking the highest offices of state. Leadership requires judgement, discipline and an understanding of the consequences of one's actions. The events that followed his departure raised serious questions about those qualities.
Labour members are increasingly making clear where their loyalties lie. Keir Starmer remains Prime Minister, remains Labour leader and remains the individual most members want leading the party into the next General Election.
The longer Streeting appears to be manoeuvring against that reality, the more isolated he risks becoming. Far from strengthening his position, he may be making it less likely that he serves in a future Labour government at all.
Politics rewards judgement. At present, Streeting appears to be testing the patience of the very people whose support he would ultimately need.
Lady with red glasses, "Nigel Farage took a £5m payment from a crypto billionaire"
"Suddenly, Reform UK are a party for crypto currency"
"How are we to trust that you and your party wouldn't sell this off to the highest bidder"
"When you have a leader who runs your party who say up the IRA for £80"
Fiona Bruce, "I have no idea Nigel Farage said up the IRA for £80"

So far today I’ve been called a seedy cunt, a wanking grifter, a poof, a shitty poof, Mr Humphries (sic), a bumboy and an ugly bumboy.
All before breakfast.
Happy Pride month folks. 🌈
At 4am, Senate Republicans gave the greenlight for the IRS to drop ALL investigations into Trump and his family.
That means if Trump is evading taxes, we’ll never know.
I have a bill to make this illegal. And I won’t stop fighting to get it done.
In a groundbreaking social initiative, Albuquerque, New Mexico launched a program that pays homeless individuals to clean streets, parks, and public areas.
The idea was simple — offers work, dignity, and purpose instead of punishment or pity.
The results were remarkable: over 70% of participants have now secured permanent housing or full-time employment, transforming their lives and communities alike. The city’s “There’s a Better Way” program proves that compassion-driven policies can be more effective than traditional welfare systems.
This week we’ve seen positive steps towards prostate cancer screening. Sadly, Reform have chosen divisive race-baiting in response.
I asked the Prime Minister to oppose Reform’s nonsense and stand with the men and their families at greatest risk from this terrible disease. 👇
At dinner last night a man explained that the local rice was drowned in glyphosate.
He spent 20 minutes warning me about chemicals in food.
Then he stepped outside and smoked a cigarette.
I’ve never seen a better demonstration that people don’t fear risk.
They fear stories.
Can we get 500 people to reply "Russia is a terrorist state"?
We need to remind everyone daily that Russia is a terrorist state and Putin is a wanted war criminal.
Senate Republicans advanced a bill last night that would send even more money to an out-of-control ICE.
It also wouldn’t stop the administration from distributing $2 billion to the people who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.

PM Keir Starmer has shut down the resignation rumours.
His message is clear. He is not walking away. Britain will not be destabilised.
He is staying to fight for the working-class families who voted for change.
True strength isn’t bowing to pressure,it’s staying the course to fix what’s broken.
Tune out the noise and support a stable Britain.🇬🇧

82 years ago, on the beaches of Normandy, brave British and Allied forces changed the course of history forever.
We must never forget the service and sacrifice of those courageous men and women.
Our debt to them can never be repaid.
Crowds in Albania's capital, Tirana, have gathered for a sixth day to protest plans for a resort on the country's Adriatic coast that has been backed by Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law.
Protesters tell CBS News' @EmmetlyonsCBS that they are looking for more transparency from their government and are speaking up to protect the nature —especially the pink flamingos of that region, which has historically been protected from developments.
"I support impeachment, full stop, of the president and his cabinet. It's the reason why I'm running. ... [Removing @realDonaldTrump] is the first thing we have to do before we can even think about getting to the other things, because he stands in the way, and he's making everything worse."
