03-04-26 This morning in Ponta do Ouro, Mozambique, sub-adult bottlenose dolphin Raven was focused on her breakfast when her intended prey made a surprising move — darting for safety right between our observers!
Raven’s reaction was priceless. Our humblest apologies for the unintentional interruption!
Witness this rare and amusing moment in the latest Dolphin Diary entry.

Today, the bottlenose dolphins issued clear vocal protests and multiple mock charges, expressing strong displeasure during the encounter.
This serves as an important reminder that these intelligent wild animals must be approached with the utmost respect and adherence to proper conduct.

Dolphin Diary 210226 - Today some of the resident Dolphins of Ponta were observed slightly offshore socialising. Billy, Bob, Lucy, Symbol, Jezabelle, Ritz and her son were amongst the group of 9. The younger males were herding and chasing females Lucy and Symbol - with Ritz’s little boy seemingly getting in on the fun too. There was some intense vocalising which included burst pulses and some whistling. The ocean was calm and the visibility insane! Toward the end of the 10 minute encountour - the pod got together in tight formation, started posturing offshore, and over therrrreeee was a large shark, as to what species it was, this is not known as he promptly left - possibly intimidated by the dolphin gang.

We have received alarming reports from colleagues in the United States indicating that the Solomon Islands government is being asked to authorise the capture of 50 wild dolphins for the international captivity trade.
This is not an isolated incident.
