Kudos to all academic moms who bring their children to conference panels — and to those who miss their little ones because they couldn’t. We need to normalise both: caregiving in academic spaces and the emotional labour of being away. @ipsa_aisp
There have been a few videos like this recently, showing men breaking down during funeral prayers. I keep thinking about how over 20 months we have seen Palestinian men’s faces and demeanor just collapse - the non-stop fatigue, grief, burden & realization of betrayal now shows on them.
Suddenly, something is shifting.
Israel's apologists have realised that a reckoning is coming.
They understand that they're not going to get away with this abomination.
And they are absolutely right 👇

14,000 babies are at risk of dying in the next 48 hours in Gaza if aid doesn’t reach them, warns Tom Fletcher, the UN’s under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs – a figure he called “utterly chilling.”

The tiny bodies of children in Gaza, hollowed out by induced starvation, are testimony of the worst humanity is capable of.
It is time to impose an arms embargo and sanctions on Israel, and urgently deploy a protection presence made of friendly soldiers (not from states who have supported the genocide).
It is time for the UNGA to act under "Uniting for Peace" resolution.
🌐French journalists stand in solidarity with the hundreds of Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza by Israel to prevent reporting on the genocide.
I wonder what it takes for other journalists to stand against the slaughtering of their colleagues.
This is Hossam’s team, and we are sharing his final message :
“If you’re reading this, it means I have been killed—most likely targeted—by the Israeli occupation forces. When this all began, I was only 21 years old—a college student with dreams like anyone else. For past 18 months, I have dedicated every moment of my life to my people. I documented the horrors in northern Gaza minute by minute, determined to show the world the truth they tried to bury. I slept on pavements, in schools, in tents—anywhere I could. Each day was a battle for survival. I endured hunger for months, yet I never left my people’s side.
By God, I fulfilled my duty as a journalist. I risked everything to report the truth, and now, I am finally at rest—something I haven’t known in the past 18 months . I did all this because I believe in the Palestinian cause. I believe this land is ours, and it has been the highest honor of my life to die defending it and serving its people.
I ask you now: do not stop speaking about Gaza. Do not let the world look away. Keep fighting, keep telling our stories—until Palestine is free.”
— For the last time, Hossam Shabat, from northern Gaza.
@campbellclaret@RestIsPolitics Great choice, one of the few ppl on the world stage who doesn’t shy from speaking truth to power re Gaza, looking fwd to the hearing the conversation!
@TVietor08 I’m really sorry for all the s*** you need to take on every time you post about ethnic cleansing of Gazans. Thank you for continuing to do so.
Gaza is still just an endless series of airstrikes and massacres. The DC experts said the way to rein this in was to "hug Bibi" and somehow magically control Netanyahu. Its long past time to move past that idiocy and just stop the arms shipments fueling this nightmare.
a person can simultaneously celebrate syria's liberation from dictatorship & worry about syria's future with HTS, celebrate hizb's resistance against israel & condemn hizb's role in syria and in lebanon. the brain/body can carry all these mixed thoughts and feelings. 3adi.
Syrians are allowed to dream again- The future is far from certain, but a ruthless dictator is toppled. If you cannot understand this relief and understand it stems from the desire people have to be free, and live in dignity, stay silent. Time to show some humility and empathy…
