@billyhumblebrag The attempts at clever wordplay in the lyrics are impressive. Models are usually really bad at this and do like extremely uninspired puns, but like 'alignment / chaotic neutral' and 'instrumental convergence / actual instrumental' are pretty creative
@jeremymaluf I walked 112,000 once. I think 150k is surely possible with some training, but it's not easy. I wonder if it might be better to do it like 8am to 8am instead of midnight to midnight to not mess up your sleep initially.
> "if kids aren't being taught to sound out words, then how are they being taught to read?"
Teachers tell students to just guess at the words.
When I say this, people think I mean it metaphorically, but no, I mean students are being told to literally guess at words.
Here's a teacher training video where a teacher demonstrates how she teaches a class of kindergarteners to "read" a word that THEY CAN'T SEE
The teacher refers to this as "reading and analyzing text".
She was taught that guessing at pictures IS reading, and now parrots that nonsense to any other students, parents, and teachers who will listen.
@cephaloform i’d be curious to try some things with base models, but am not familiar with the current SoTA base models. what’s the strongest ones right now?
@TheStalwart I feel like it’s some sort of mode collapse thing. One task I used to do is copy a bunch of my text messages with someone into the context and simulate a conversation about some new topic. I’ve yet to find a model better than Opus 3 at this
@besttrousers@JeremiahDJohns I live in Manhattan, and find MPU often misleading, but 5100 for the average Manhattan apartment doesn’t sound that far off? 1 bedrooms in new buildings go for that, and pretty much any 2+ bedrooms
@tenobrus@MatthewW_eacc They can pivot to being the compute provider for the companies actually doing RSI, which is not a bad position. They are incredibly good at building data centers fast
@NateSilver538 That’s kind of misleading though, isn’t it? Teams that win by a lot will advance to face better teams, and then win by less (or lose). That’s why OKC and the Spurs are also on here.
@angadsinghjosan@spicey_lemonade You don't think people could get AI-generated code that works, then rewrite it as a human? That sounds a lot easier than coming up with the solution themselves.
@charlespacker The cost of building these products has gone down because their models are way better at writing code. I think this was always their plan
@LinkofSunshine Median listed unit is probably a little high. But 2100 for the median unit in Manhattan is more unrealistic. There is one listing on all of StreetEasy right now below that
@iaindunning@TheStalwart I feel like it should be unique activities that will draw people from farther away. Stuff like Level99, meow wolf (though they’re building in seaport already), immersive theater (since sleep no more closed)
