But apparently, the chair was too important to boycott. They knew J&K was a UT. They knew where the real powers rested. They knew an elected government couldn't simply restore statehood.

If all the so-called champions of statehood had stood together and said “No Statehood, No Election,” perhaps the political message would have been impossible to ignore.
