@tommcurzon so those movies can worked on by less experienced animators and they can made on cheaper budgets than something like Sleeping Beauty was. Fox and the Hound was specifically used for training before Black Cauldron, which also bombed and sent them back to the animals before Mermaid

@tommcurzon People are already mentioning Sleeping Beauty doing badly monetarily (It was VERY EXPENSIVE to make), but I'm not seeing mention that the "cartoon animal" type movies were/are often used to train younger animators before putting them on stuff where the anatomy matters more
