It was with a lot of sadness, that I received the bad news of the death of your dear husband, Mr. Hafidh Hassan.

I extend the most heart-felt condolences from the brother People of Uganda and from my family and myself, to your Excellency, your family and the People of Tanzania.

Eversince I started knowing you as Vice-President of the United Republic of Tanzania and now as President, I have witnessed your love for your country and Africa and your dedication.

We have done a lot together in the areas of trade, the East African Oil Pipeline, the Murongo-Kyikagate mini-hydro station, the tarmac roads on the side of Tanzania, the transmission-line from Masaka-Bukoba, the SGR to Isaka and, eventually, to Uganda and beyond, to mention just some.

The dedication you show must have been supported by your dear husband and family. I have met your son, Mr. Abdul, a few times.

It must, therefore, be a great loss to you. I pray that the Almighty God sees you through these dark days. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

I joined the Christians of Kinuka Church of Uganda in Lyantonde District to celebrate 138 years of God’s faithfulness and the Church’s service to the community. I represented H.E. @KagutaMuseveni at the function.

The President commended the Church for its longstanding contribution to education, healthcare, economic empowerment and social transformation. He noted that many schools, hospitals, universities and charitable institutions across the country have been built on the foundation of faith-based institutions.

He encouraged Christians and all Ugandans to take advantage of the peace in the country and embrace government programmes aimed at transforming households from subsistence to a money economy.

In my remarks, I encouraged the people of Lyantonde to prepare for the expected El Niño rains, which may cause flooding. I also encouraged them to get their gardens ready for the planting season once the rains begin.

Lyantonde is one of the areas that suffers from prolonged dry spells. I informed the residents that the government is working on projects to expand access to water for domestic use and production. I encouraged residents to embrace modern methods of farming and livestock rearing.

Rt. Rev. Gaster Nsereko, Bishop of West Buganda Diocese, who was the main celebrant, informed me about the high rate of vandalism of electricity infrastructure. I asked the community to be vigilant against this vandalism. We have a law that provides strong punishment for those who vandalise electricity lines. I called upon residents to work together to identify and report such individuals. One or two culprits, when caught and punished, will strongly deter others with similar intentions.

I thank the area leaders, @Kinywamachunda, Hon. Birungi Katushabe and others who are doing great work in mobilising households and communities to fight poverty in the district.

Today, Mrs. Charlotte Kainerugaba, the Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH) Ambassador and our champion for safe motherhood, launched the National Blood Donation Drive as part of the National PPH Awareness Campaign.

PPH, commonly known as excessive bleeding after childbirth, remains a major cause of maternal mortality. This drive seeks to mobilize blood donations to save mothers affected by PPH, while also supporting other patients in need of lifesaving blood.

Today, I received the body of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, at Entebbe International Airport.

The Queen Mother first informed me of his illness in November 2025, and we supported efforts to secure specialised treatment for him in Germany and later in the United States. Unfortunately, he died.

Throughout his reign as King of Tooro, Oyo was a good person and a good leader. His passing is a great loss to the people of Tooro and Uganda.

I encourage the people of Tooro to remain calm and avoid disorganisation, even in this difficult time.
May the Lord grant him eternal rest. Amen.

I welcome them to Uganda and look forward to working with them to further strengthen our bilateral relations and cooperation with their respective countries. I wish them a successful tour of duty in Uganda.
